The mission of Carolina Performing Arts is to spark curiosity, inspiring all members of our community to discover and more fully engage with the world. We collaborate with dynamic and compelling artists from across the globe to create novel, mission-driven performing arts experiences in partnership with our community. Carolina Performing Arts (CPA) integrates the performing arts into the core academic and teaching mission of the University through its diverse programming and engagement initiatives and champions the power of exceptional arts experiences to enrich, inspire, challenge and transform. CPA oversees all artistic programming, campus and community engagement, marketing, and fundraising for its presented performances and manages all operations of its venues including facility rentals, technical production, audience services, and ticketing. Established in 2016, Arts Everywhere collaborates with diverse partners to embed the arts into daily life at Carolina through creative and cutting-edge programs that promote artistic expression, live arts experiences, and learning through the arts. The initiative’s vision reflects the potential impact of the arts at a leading, global, public research university: a global force for public good, the arts at Carolina generate new knowledge, develop citizen leaders, address complex challenges, and catalyze economic development. Through collaborative programming, strategic communication, advocacy, coordinated fundraising, and other efforts, the initiative makes creativity and artistic expression a fundamental part of the Carolina experience and education. *Position Summary:*The Assistant Production Lead for Carolina Performing Arts (CPA) reports to the Production Manager and is responsible for providing technical support and leadership to the venue and production operations during event set-ups, rehangs, load-ins, rehearsals, workshops and load-outs in Memorial Hall, CURRENT ArtSpace Studio, Gerrard Hall, and Moeser Auditorium. This position routinely works with the CPA Production team, including Production Management and the Lighting Lead and Audio Lead to coordinate event technology arrangements, and partake in the setup and operation for a variety of events. The Assistant Production Lead may be asked to focus on a variety of production technologies, and may need to manage equipment and operations in the absence of the Department Leads or Production Management. This position may act as the main point of contact for artists or clients in residency rehearsals or workshops. settings. This role may organize and delegate operational workflows and staff assignments with the input from Department Leads or Production Management . The Assistant Production Lead may also work show calls as needed for CPA performances as well as for events hosted by student groups, campus departments, and community groups in our venues, as availability allows. Shift Supervision: - Lead crew calls and coordinate safe operations of event preparations and processes with direction from the Department Leads and/or Production Management - Provide specialized technical support as the knowledgeable professional, which will include basic staging, theatrical rigging, and fly-system operation. - Provide on-site supervision of technical support needs for events, rehearsals and workshops Process Documentation: - Export and interpret lighting plots, audio and video plots, cabling plan to implement into event shifts. - Keep documentation of shift operations, process updates, and schedule changes in event shift-reports, production reports, or organization-wide daily event reports. Programing and Operation: - First call as a consistent programmer and/or operator (in lighting, video, and/or audio) for projects, residencies or rehearsals. *Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:*Graduation from high school and one year in the field of technology related to the position’s role. - Computer coursework may be substituted year-for- year for the required experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. - Journey level requires an additional six months experience - Advanced level requires an additional one year of experience. *Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience:*This position must demonstrate a high level of knowledge in multiple areas of live event production, including but not limited to audio mixing and amplification, lighting equipment, networking and programming, common staging and rigging practices, use of a manual counterweight fly system, and video equipment, networking and programming. The position should have a degree of accuracy and attention to detail to ensure the error-free success of highly complex, high-profile events. The ability to create and nurture a culture of exceptional customer service to artists, audience members, and venue users and to develop and maintain productive working relationships with artists and crews is essential. *Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience:*N/A *Special Physical/Mental Requirements:*This position requires the ability to lift or move heavy objects and to work long hours under potentially stressful conditions. *Campus Security Authority Responsibilities:*Not Applicable. *Special Instructions :*H-1B sponsorship is not available for this position.
