We're looking for a Collections Team Manager to join our NHS Shared Business Services (NHS SBS) team. This is a fantastic opportunity to lead a high-performing collections team within a collaborative, supportive, and continuously evolving environment. NHS SBS is a joint venture between Sopra Steria and the NHS, delivering essential business support services across Finance & Accounting, Employment Services, Procurement, IT, and Consultancy. You'll be based in our modern Leeds, with hybrid working arrangements - typically one day a week in the office on a Monday, plus ad hoc days as and when needed. What you'll be doing: Leading a team of up to 13 Collections and Recovery Specialists, ensuring performance targets and service metrics are consistently met. Managing day-to-day operations including work volume control logs, team delegation, and issue resolution. Supporting team development through coaching, 1-1s, and succession planning. Collaborating with other business areas, especially Employment Services, to resolve salary overpayment cases. Driving continuous improvement by developing tools and processes that enhance team efficiency. Representing NHS SBS professionally in occasional client-facing scenarios and internal leadership forums. What you'll bring: Proven leadership experience in a collection or accounts receivable environment. Strong people management and motivational skills. Excellent communication skills with the ability to adapt your style to different audiences. Analytical attitude with confidence working with data and reporting tools. Ability to balance multiple workflows and delegate effectively. A proactive, organised, and solutions-focused approach. It would be great if you had: Experience working as a collector - understanding the role from the ground up. Familiarity with Excel, Microsoft Teams, and data analysis tools. Experience working in a public sector or a regulated environment.
