Ground & Operations Segment Architect – Advanced Robotics & AI Satellite Missions Europe (Hybrid/On-site) A pioneering NewSpace company at the forefront of autonomous robotics and AI-driven satellite technologies is seeking an experienced Ground & Operations Segment Architect to join its growing team. The successful candidate will play a key role in developing and integrating the ground infrastructure for next-generation autonomous inspection, life-extension, and rendezvous missions in geostationary orbit (GEO). About the Role This is a high-impact, cross-disciplinary position responsible for the architecture, development, and validation of the ground segment and operational systems enabling advanced robotic and AI satellite operations . You will work closely with spacecraft, autonomy, and mission operations teams to ensure seamless integration between space and ground systems throughout all mission phases — from launch to servicing and end-of-life. Key Responsibilities Design and develop the ground segment architecture , including mission control, telemetry, tracking & command (TT&C), and data systems. Define and manage system requirements, interfaces, and operational concepts (CONOPS). Lead mission operations planning , including commissioning, rendezvous, docking, and robotic servicing. Oversee system validation , integration with spacecraft simulators, and full-scale mission rehearsals. Coordinate with international ground stations , autonomy systems, and software providers to ensure end-to-end mission readiness. Requirements Degree in Aerospace Engineering, Systems Engineering, Computer Science , or a related field. 8 years of experience in ground systems, space operations, or systems architecture . Strong understanding of TT&C systems , CCSDS protocols , and ground software (e.g., SCOS-2000, EPOCH, GMSEC). Experience in requirements management tools (DOORS, Jama, or equivalent). Excellent communication and coordination skills across multidisciplinary and international teams. Preferred Qualifications Experience with autonomous or robotic satellite missions , proximity operations , or AI-enabled control systems . Familiarity with ECSS or NASA mission standards . Knowledge of secure space communications and cybersecurity best practices . Experience in agile or DevOps-based ground software development .
