Preconstruction Manager

Job Description Our client, a growing industrial design/build construction company, is seeking a skilled Preconstruction Manager to lead estimating strategy, support company growth, and strengthen their preconstruction process. This role is ideal for someone with a Construction Science or Civil Engineering degree and 5–8 years of estimating experience, who is ready to step into a high-impact leadership position. Key Responsibilities Leadership & Culture Development Build and mentor a high-performing preconstruction team around current leaders Promote a culture of accountability, transparency, and continuous improvement Bid Preparation & Review Oversee full bid preparation including estimates, budgets, proposals, and scope reviews Review takeoff details, specifications, subcontractor pricing, and self-performed work Bid Strategy, Risk Management & Value Engineering Work with executive leadership to identify competitive advantages during pursuit phases Maintain strong relationships with subcontractors, suppliers, and repeat clients Identify project risks, complex scope items, and cost-saving/value-engineering opportunities early in the process Design/Build Coordination Lead the preconstruction effort in defining project scope, schedule, and intent directly with the customer Manage and coordinate design development throughout the preconstruction stage Process Improvement & Market Analysis Improve estimating tools, workflows, and templates to increase accuracy and efficiency Monitor market trends, labor rates, and material costs to inform pricing strategies and project planning Who Will Thrive in This Role Someone who enjoys both technical estimating AND strategic leadership A relationship-driven professional who values collaboration with subs, suppliers, customers, and internal teams A process-minded leader who can build structure and continuously refine operations as the company scales This is a rare opportunity to join a company with strong momentum and long-term growth plans as they continue to expand the design/build model within the industrial sector.
