Job Title: Project Manager – Strategic Initiatives (Non-IT) Employment Type: Contract (Full-Time) Pay Rate: Based on Experience (Competitive Market Rate) Contract Duration: 03/12/2025 – 31/03/2026 Interview Mode: Virtual About the Role We are seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead and deliver complex, strategic, and high-visibility initiatives within client enviornment . This position focuses on business transformation, policy modernization, and service delivery improvement projects — not limited to IT — that drive operational efficiency, innovation, and public value across government programs. The successful candidate will bring strong project management discipline, leadership presence, and stakeholder collaboration skills , ensuring timely, high-quality, and measurable delivery across assigned initiatives. Key Responsibilities • Oversee end-to-end project management including planning, execution, delivery, and closure of complex business and transformation projects. • Define project scope, deliverables, timelines, and milestones in collaboration with program sponsors and business stakeholders. • Develop and maintain project charters, business cases, risk logs, communication plans, and financial forecasts . • Establish clear governance and reporting structures , ensuring alignment with Project Management Office (PMO) standards. • Conduct regular project and steering committee meetings , providing updates on progress, risks, and mitigation plans. • Monitor and manage project budgets, schedules, and quality outcomes while maintaining transparency with sponsors. • Identify and resolve project risks, issues, and dependencies through proactive planning and communication. • Support change management, process improvement, and policy or service delivery transformation. • Lead cross-functional collaboration between government ministries, technical teams, and program areas. • Document lessons learned, evaluate project outcomes, and contribute to PMO best practice improvements. Mandatory Skills & Qualifications • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Public Administration, or related discipline. • Project Management Professional (PMP) designation (required). • 5 years of experience in non-IT project management , focusing on policy, business transformation, or service delivery. • Proven success in defining scope, objectives, and deliverables with stakeholders. • 3 years of experience developing project documentation such as charters, business cases, risk registers, and closure reports . • Ability to manage multiple concurrent projects and prioritize effectively in a fast-paced environment. • Demonstrated skill in conflict management, stakeholder communication, and executive reporting . • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities. • Must be available for daily onsite meetings in Edmonton, AB . Preferred Skills • Proficiency in Microsoft Project , including forecasting and scheduling in a project server environment. • 5 years of experience leading and facilitating meetings with senior stakeholders. • Experience working within public sector or government organizations . • Demonstrated ability to make recommendations on complex business and policy issues with limited precedent. • Knowledge of change management frameworks and organizational transformation.
