This role is for a unique talent ready to play a pivotal part in building and securing a state of the art security stack. You will use your deep experience to build our secure, high-volume public APIs, integrate diverse platforms, and deploy using the latest AWS cloud technologies. As part of our dynamic, execution-focused team, you'll thrive in a fast-paced environment, collaborating with cross-functional groups to deliver high-quality, scalable, and resilient solutions that drive our business forward. Key Responsibilities Lead the design and development efforts to build and modernise our application stack using Python, with a strong focus on security. Design, develop, and integrate robust, scalable, and secure public-facing APIs using frameworks like Flask or FastAPI. Implement comprehensive API security measures, including authentication, authorisation, rate limiting, and input validation to protect our services. Build and enhance CI/CD pipelines for Python APIs, integrating security tools like Synk and SonarQube to automate vulnerability scanning. Strengthen our cyber security posture by implementing industry best practices across the application and infrastructure layers. Deploy and manage AWS infrastructure using IaC (Terraform, CloudFormation) to support the application stack. Lead technical design and architecture discussions, driving innovation in security and scalability. Provide technical guidance and mentorship to other engineers. Skills & Experience Strong proficiency in Python with commercial experience building secure, public-facing APIs using Flask or FastAPI. A strong interest in leveraging the latest AI-powered development tools (e.g., code assistants, generative AI) to enhance productivity and code quality. Proactively explores and experiments with cutting‑edge AI tooling to accelerate development cycles and solve complex problems. Proven experience supporting applications running on AWS, especially with Docker containers on Amazon ECS, fronted by an ALB and connected to services like RDS. Demonstrable experience architecting solutions for high‑volume traffic. Hands‑on experience building and managing CI/CD pipelines for Python applications. Solid grasp of modern API design principles (REST), API lifecycle versioning, and ensuring backwards compatibility. Experience working with Linux systems and Docker in a production environment.
