Job Description
Get AI-powered advice on this job and more exclusive features. About Project Ohm Project Ohm is a Western Australia–based venture developing the world’s first energy-aware, distributed high-performance computing (HPC) network. By co-locating GPU-dense micro data centres with renewable generation and grid-constrained sites, we transform surplus renewable energy into productive compute—reducing curtailment, supporting grid stability, and delivering ultra‑low‑carbon AI infrastructure. We are now entering our Seed-to-Scale phase: building our commercial pilot node, expanding into multi‑node deployments, and preparing for institutional project finance partnerships with major infrastructure and energy funds. The Opportunity We are seeking a Fractional CFO (1–2 days/week) who can help translate a high-potential deep-tech project into a bankable infrastructure-scale business . You will work directly with the Founder/CEO and board to mature our financial strategy, model scalability, and prepare the business for engagement with institutional investors, strategic partners, and government funding programs (GET, CRC‑P, ARENA, etc.). This role suits a commercially seasoned finance leader who enjoys getting on the ground in early‑stage environments—helping shape structure, credibility, and clarity before scale. Key Responsibilities 1. Financial Strategy & Modelling Refine and extend existing multi‑year financial models (P&L, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow) to demonstrate scalability from pilot to multi‑node rollout. Develop project finance–ready models capable of supporting infrastructure‑scale funding ($100–500 m capital stacks). Build sensitivity analyses for utilisation, energy costs, GPU pricing, depreciation, and financing scenarios. 2. Capital Raising & Investor Readiness Translate the technical and environmental thesis into investor‑grade financial narratives. Prepare materials for institutional and strategic investors, including data‑room financial packs, valuation scenarios, and return profiles (IRR, payback, EBITDA bridge). Advise on optimal capital structure (equity, project debt, grants, and hybrid instruments). 3. Governance, Compliance & Controls Establish scalable accounting, budgeting, and reporting frameworks aligned with IFRS and R&D tax requirements. Develop investor reporting templates and board dashboards. Ensure compliance with grant conditions and cost‑tracking for R&D and capital projects. 4. Strategic Finance Partnering Work with the CEO and technical team to align capital planning with deployment schedules and energy‑market participation models. Support commercial structuring of partnerships with energy companies, universities, and hardware vendors (e.g., revenue‑share, in‑kind equity). Contribute to pricing, margin analysis, and unit economics for GPU‑as‑a‑Service offerings. Ideal Background 10 years of senior finance experience, ideally in infrastructure, energy, or deep‑tech ventures. Proven experience preparing early‑stage businesses for institutional or project‑finance investment. Exposure to renewable energy, data centres, or digital infrastructure highly valued. Strong technical finance capability (modelling, scenario planning, valuation). Experience with capital structuring, financial due diligence, and investor negotiation. Comfortable working in a hands‑on, fast‑moving startup environment with incomplete information. Commitment & Compensation Part‑time (fractional): Initially 1, migrating to 2 days/week, with flexibility as needs evolve. Location: Perth preferred, hybrid possible for the right candidate. Compensation: Retainer equity options aligned with milestone achievement and funding events. Start: Immediate / Q1 2026. Why Join Now You’ll be joining just as the company transitions from pre‑seed to institutional readiness—when your impact on valuation, credibility, and investor engagement will be most visible. This is a rare opportunity to shape a category‑defining business at the intersection of AI, energy, and infrastructure—helping build the financial foundations of a globally scalable green‑compute network.
