Reporting to the CEO, the CFO will provide strategic leadership across Finance, Technology (CIO), Commercial, Procurement, Fleet, and the Enterprise Project Management Office (EPMO). This role will play a key part in advancing Council's asset management maturity-overseeing the financial side of $4 billion asset base-and ensuring enterprise projects are effectively linked to long-term renewal and investment strategies. As a trusted advisor, the CFO will lead major commercial initiatives including strategic land acquisitions and sales, driving revenue-generating initiatives, managing the partnership for Council's Atherstone Estate. A strong communicator and natural team player, you'll play a pivotal role in telling the financial story of the organisation-articulating performance, progress, and potential opportunities to Councillors, the Audit and Risk Committee, and the community. The successful candidate will bring executive-level experience in financial management and a proven record of delivering commercial outcomes within complex organisations. You'll combine a strong understanding of private-sector dynamics with a modern, solutions-focused mindset-balancing risk, innovation, and accountability. A CPA or CA-qualified professional, you'll work closely with the Audit and Risk Committee, Victorian Auditor General's Office and the Essential Services Commission, championing sustainable growth and sound financial governance.
