Job Description

Position Title: Import & Foreign Trade Specialist Import & Foreign Trade Specialist (Food Industry) Location: Querétaro, Mexico — Remote for the first 3–6 months; on‑site in Querétaro thereafter (Relocation required if not already local) Compensation: $400,000-$460,000 MXN Overview We are seeking an experienced Import & Foreign Trade Specialist with deep expertise in food industry trade to manage cross‑border rail imports into Mexico and support emerging export operations across Latin America. This role is bilingual and highly collaborative, interfacing daily with Mexican authorities, customs brokers, and U.S./Canadian rail partners. The position will begin remotely and transition to an on‑site role in Querétaro, MX after 3–6 months. What You’ll Do: Language & Communication Conduct all local, day‑to‑day communications in Spanish . Communicate in English with U.S. teams (primarily Kansas City) and Canadian railway contacts. Import Operations (Core Focus ≈ 99%) Own the monthly grain import cycle, ensuring full compliance with food industry standards and regulations. Use customs processing systems (e.g., Pedimento software) to prepare, submit, and reconcile trade documentation. Prepare and review customs declarations and all supporting paperwork with high accuracy. Coordinate with customs brokers and SADER (Servicio Nacional de Sanidad, Inocuidad y Calidad Agroalimentaria) for inspections once railcars cross the border. Export Operations (Emerging Scope) Support initial export efforts to Venezuela, Argentina, Colombia , and additional Central/South American markets as these programs scale. Issue Resolution Troubleshoot and resolve ADOL system errors by partnering with U.S. counterparts and internal stakeholders. Must‑Have Qualifications Fluent Spanish and advanced English proficiency (≈80–90%), both written and verbal. 3–5 years of import experience within the food industry (not general manufacturing). Demonstrated knowledge of foreign trade processes specific to food products. Hands‑on familiarity with customs systems and trade documentation workflows (e.g., Pedimento). Established working contacts with SADER for product inspections. Preferred Qualifications Export experience in food industry trade across Latin American markets.
