Assistant Website Content Editor Communications Department Hybrid working available Permanent contract £29,642 Closing date 28 November 12.00 About the Role Join the British Museum's vibrant Website Content Team as an Assistant Website Content Editor and help support the work we do on britishmuseum.org . In this exciting role, you'll be the first point of contact for our team, managing the Web Content mailbox and helping keep everything running smoothly. You'll support the events process, crop images, edit and upload fresh content to the website, and handle day-to-day updates that keep our site engaging and accurate. About You We're looking for someone with a solid background in digital content - ideally with a degree or equivalent experience, and a couple of years working on large websites. You'll be confident writing, editing, and proofreading content, and comfortable using tools like Drupal and Photoshop. A good grasp of SEO, accessibility, and UX principles is key, along with the ability to analyse performance using tools such as Google Analytics. You'll thrive on collaboration, have excellent organisational skills, and communicate clearly with a wide range of people. A proactive, can-do attitude is essential, and if you have a passion for history or experience working with heritage content, that's a big plus! Key Areas of Responsibility: Produce, edit, and upload content in Drupal CMS, ensuring it meets brand guidelines, tone of voice, and accessibility standards. Select, crop, and edit copyright-cleared images (preferably using Photoshop) and support occasional photo/video shoots. Apply SEO and accessibility best practices, assist colleagues with guidance, and keep website documentation up to date. Assist with CMS improvements, user acceptance testing (UAT), and respond to urgent updates or queries, escalating issues when needed. Monitor and respond to the web support inbox, maintain the event publishing calendar, and ensure service level agreements (SLAs) are met.
