The opportunity: Fitness & Lifestyle Group (FLG) is seeking a Cyber Security Engineer to secure and optimise our company’s digital assets and infrastructure. Join our growing cybersecurity team as a hands-on Security Engineer, where you’ll leverage your engineering and analytical expertise to design and maintain cutting-edge security solutions for cloud environments. Reporting to the Cyber Security Lead and collaborating with a Managed Detection and Response (MDR) provider, you’ll drive compliance, threat mitigation, and secure digital transformation. Partnering with IT and business leaders, you’ll implement cutting-edge detection and response strategies, ensuring our defenses stay ahead of an evolving threat landscape. Be a key player in safeguarding our operations and shaping a secure future. You’ll work closely with IT and business leaders to shape and implement best practices, work on detection and response initiatives, and ensure our defences evolve with the threat landscape. Key duties and responsibilities include (but are not limited to): Security Engineering & Operation s Design, implement, and maintain security controls across Microsoft 365, Azure/Entra ID, with a strong focus on the Microsoft Azure stack (VNETs, firewalling, VMs, etc.) and Microsoft security tooling. Configure and manage endpoint protection tools (e.g., Microsoft Defender). Monitor and respond to security events using SIEM and EDR platforms (e.g., Defender, Sentinel). Compliance & Governance Support compliance initiatives aligned with ISO 27001, PCI-DSS, Essential 8, and NIST CSF. Assist in the development and enforcement of internal security policies and procedures. Maintain documentation, asset inventories, and audit-ready records for internal and client environments. Project Delivery & Client Engagement Contribute to security uplift projects, cloud migrations, and compliance-driven initiatives. Collaborate with various stakeholders to deliver tailored security solutions. Prepare technical documentation, reports, and updates for internal and external audiences. Collaboration & Support Work with IT stakeholders to deliver secure, user-friendly solutions. Provide Tier 2/3 support for cloud and workplace platforms. Continuous Improvement & Compliance Stay current with emerging technologies and recommend improvements. Contribute to ISO 27001 and PCI DSS compliance. About you: Qualifications & Experience Tertiary qualification in Cybersecurity, IT, Computer Science, or a related field. Must have 5 years of experience in a cybersecurity engineering role, plus additional experience in various roles is a bonus (systems administration, or IT support). Experience in regulated industries (e.g., finance, healthcare, government) is highly regarded. Technical Skills Strong expertise in Microsoft 365, Azure/Entra ID, Intune, and Defender suite. Familiarity with SIEM/SOAR, endpoint protection, and vulnerability management tools. Working knowledge of networking, cloud security platforms, and backup solutions. Understanding of compliance frameworks: ISO 27001, PCI-DSS, Essential 8, and NIST CSF. Soft Skills Excellent communication skills, with the ability to work across technical and non-technical teams.
