Electrical Fitter – Mining and Plant Equipment Location: Australia (Extensive Travel Required) Roster: As per operational requirements, generally 14:14 Reports to: Plant Manager Classification: Trades & Services – Electrical Maintenance About the Role MAXAM is seeking a skilled and safety-focused Electrical Fitter to join our dynamic team. In this hands-on role, you’ll be responsible for maintaining, repairing, assembling and installing electrical systems and equipment. Core Skills & Knowledge: Technical Proficiency: Understanding of electrical systems, circuits, and industrial equipment is essential. Diagnostic & Troubleshooting: The ability to use test instruments to locate and diagnose faults in equipment is crucial. Problem-Solving: Applying analytical skills to methodically approach and resolve issues in electrical systems. Variable Speed Drives (VSDs): Knowledge of how to repair maintain VSDs for motor control is vital. PLC: Knowledge of how to connect to a PLC and make small operations if needed (support from external company). Networking and Communication: Ability to troubleshoot communication issues between MCC components and higher-level control systems. Blueprint Interpretation: Reading and understanding electrical diagrams and specifications to guide installation and maintenance. Essential Tasks: Installation & Maintenance: Installing wiring, cable, and electrical equipment, as well as performing routine maintenance. Repair & Replacement: Repairing and replacing faulty wiring, components, and defective parts in a timely manner. Emergency Response: Responding to electrical breakdowns and emergencies to minimize downtime. Testing & Commissioning: Testing electrical systems, circuits, and equipment to ensure they are functioning correctly. Safety and Compliance Australian Electrical Standards : Deep knowledge of AS/NZS 3000 (the Australian Wiring Rules) and other relevant Australian safety regulations. Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) Procedures: Strict adherence to LOTO procedures to ensure the safety of maintenance personnel when working on high-voltage equipment. What We’re Looking For Trade-qualified Electrician. Mechanical Trade will be desirable but not essential. Pneumatic and hydraulic system experience will be highly regarded Excellent time management, communication, and problem-solving skills. Ability to work independently and unsupervised. Commitment to safety and continuous improvement. Create work instructions/risk assessments as required. Follow maintenance plans set by maintenance schedule. Manage critical spares stock level.
