About the Role As a Controls Colo Engineer you will work with internal business teams and colocation vendors to identify, document, and resolve any operational/design deficiencies that could impact a site’s capability or availability. You will provide full life‑cycle support to Data Centers from design inception through site improvement and maintenance. You will be the “go‑to” engineering resource when technical advice is needed and use your subject‑matter expertise to engage with diverse teams. Key Responsibilities Work in close relationship with the control team of DCE Colocation Design and Standards (CoDeS) to develop and implement new and existing standards. Perform design and equipment submittal review for Controls for new Colo Data Centers in the region to ensure consistent standards across Colocation Data Centers and AWS owned sites. Review and identify risks within the scope of Building Management System (BMS) and Electrical Power Monitoring System (EPMS) for in‑flight AWS Colo Data Centers. Review and identify risks within automation controls drawings and wiring diagrams, the controls logic programming and the graphical user interface. Review and accept proposed changes to the site‑specific control infrastructure against AWS Data Center standards, and document accepted deviations when appropriate. Review Colo and Hybrid controls sequence of operation and provide feedback to design. Support the design for existing Colo Data Center control system upgrades and design‑solutions, which add capacity, improve availability, and increase efficiency. Troubleshoot, conduct Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and create Corrective Action (CA) documentation for site/equipment failures related to control equipment. Conduct site audits of Colo Data Centers, including producing reports outlining risks with recommended mitigations and remediation. Support construction, commissioning, and turnover for Controls for any new construction projects (could be remote with local Colo Engineer presence). Essential Qualifications B.S. in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Technology, HVAC, or other related engineering degree, OR 10 years related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. 5 years of experience in project coordination with multiple teams or vendors to meet project requirements. Experience with industrial or commercial engineering in Mission Critical facilities including data centers, power generation, oil / gas facilities. Preferred Qualifications Master’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical or Mechatronics Engineering. 7 years of experience in project coordination with multiple teams or vendors to meet project requirements. Experience with design, configuration, or servicing of building‑control products such as Siemens Apogee, Honeywell Building Controls, Trend Building Controls, Schneider Electric PowerLogic/Struxureware, Rockwell Automation FactoryTalk, Tridium Niagara, Eaton Foreseer, ABB Decathalon, Johnson Controls Metasys. Experience reading, interpreting, and creating construction drawings, specifications, and submittal documents.
