Job Description Leadership and Program Management Develop, implement, and oversee a robust global trade compliance program for all material import, export and transfers Guide local sites regarding customs and trade compliance activities Establish internal policies, SOPs, and compliance manuals inline with international trade and authority requirements Conduct regular compliance audits, risk assessments, and corrective action plans to ensure program effectiveness Serve as the company subject matter expert (SME) on global trade compliance regulations and practices Customs and Trade Operations Ensure all import and export activities comply with applicable customs laws and global trade regulations Oversee relationships with customs brokers, freight forwarders, and logistics partners to ensure timely, compliant clearance of shipments Provide guidance and standards for import/export documentation (invoices, certificates of origin, etc.) Ensure accurate product classifications (HTS/ECCN), country of origin determination and customs valuation for all materials Ensure compliance with free trade agreements and other preferential trade programs Ensure compliance with controlled substance regulations (e.g., DEA import/export permits) Regulatory and Export Control Compliance Ensure compliance with relevant international export control regulations (dual use, etc.) Oversee denied/restricted party screenings, embargo compliance and sanctions management Maintain readiness for government audits and inspections by other authorities in the network Data management and reporting Ensure complete and accurate trade documentation and records within the network Manage trade compliance data in ERP and other trade management systems Develop and monitor compliance KPIs and metrics for executive reporting Training and stakeholder communications Provide training to internal teams (procurement, logistics, supply chain, quality, etc.) on customs and trade compliance policies Act as the primary contact with customs authorities, brokers, freight forwarders and regulatory agencies Support audit and inspections by customs and health authorities Communicate regulatory changes and provide actionable guidance to ensure continued compliance Promote a culture of integrity, transparency and accountability in global trade practice Qualifications 5-10 years of experience in customs or trade compliance, preferable in the API, pharmaceutical, biotechnology, medical equipment, life science sector or any other highly regulated industry Desirable qualifications like licensed/certified export (CES) or customs (CCS) specialist Deep understanding of international trade laws, customs procedures and industry compliance regulations Exceptional analytical, organizational, and problem‑solving skills Ability to manage complex cross‑border trade and documentation processes Anticipates and plans for potential risks; develops corresponding contingency plans Strong influencing skills, communication, and stakeholder management abilities Skilled at identifying, assessing, and mitigating trade‑related risks Cross‑functional collaboration skills (e.g., logistics, legal, compliance, supply chain) Make Your Mark with TAPI Your journey with TAPI is more than a job—it’s an opportunity to make a lasting impact on global health.
