COMPLEXITY LEVEL: 4 High Complexity Level JOB SUMMARY The Mechanical/Electrical Quality Engineer is responsible for ensuring the quality, integrity, and compliance of mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation systems throughout the engineering, manufacturing, construction, and commissioning phases of projects. This role provides technical quality expertise, conducts inspections and audits, supports nonconformance investigations, and drives continuous improvement across engineering and production processes PREFERRED EDUCATION & CERTIFICATIONS Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, or related engineering field preferred. Certifications preferred: ASQ-CQE, ASQ-CQI, API, NETA, AWS, or equivalent quality/inspection credentials. Minimum 3 years of experience in a Quality Engineering, Mechanical/Electrical Inspector, Testing/Commissioning Technician, or Production Lead role within an ISO-certified or regulated environment (ISO 9001, API, or equivalent). Experience within manufacturing, industrial equipment, automation, construction, oil & gas, energy, utilities, or EPC environments is highly desirable. HIRING CONDITIONS Valid Visa and passport required Familiarity with applicable codes and standards such as ANSI, ASTM, ASME, NEMA, API, NFPA, IEC, and NEC. 90% English proficiency required Strong ability to work autonomously and collaboratively is essential Willingness to travel based on project needs Professional references will be requested during the selection process Position based in Mexico RESPONSIBILITIES Quality Engineering & Assurance Support the Quality Management System (QMS) by planning and executing mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation inspections and tests in accordance with Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs), FAT procedures, specifications, and project requirements. Conduct and document detailed inspections of mechanical and electrical components, systems, and assemblies, ensuring compliance with design, applicable codes, and customer specifications. Identify, investigate, and resolve quality issues; lead root-cause analysis and implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA). Provide engineering support to develop and update quality procedures, work instructions, test plans, and commissioning checklists. Ensure close feedback loop between shop floor, Quality, Engineering, and Project Management teams to support continuous improvement and lessons learned. Compliance, Testing & Audits Plan, schedule, and perform internal process audits to ensure compliance to the QMS and industry standards. Participate in customer audits, supplier audits, ISO surveillance and recertification activities. Verify calibration status of measurement and test equipment; coordinate calibration services and maintain compliance records. Witness, validate, and document mechanical/electrical testing and commissioning activities prior to system acceptance and turnover. Project Quality & Site Support Support project execution by conducting shop and field inspections, including mechanical, electrical, and I&E installations (cable routing, wiring, instrumentation, control panels, MCCs, motors, piping, valves, rotating equipment, etc.). Coordinate with Engineering, Construction, and Commissioning teams to resolve quality issues related to mechanical, electrical, and I&E work scopes. Ensure testing equipment and tools are available, calibrated, and suitable for M/E inspection and testing work. Maintain traceable inspection records, test reports, and quality documents to support Turnover Packages and customer certification requirements. Ensure all quality activities and field work are performed in compliance with safety rules, regulatory requirements, and company standards. Documentation & Reporting Prepare detailed inspection reports, NCRs, audit findings, and corrective action documentation. Manage inspection documentation, test records, and quality packages for Mechanical/Electrical systems turnover. Support Quality data reporting, trend analysis, and continuous improvement initiatives. REQUIRED SKILLS & COMPETENCIES Strong understanding of mechanical and electrical engineering principles , manufacturing processes, and quality best practices. Ability to read and interpret P&IDs, electrical schematics, single-line diagrams, mechanical drawings, assembly drawings, and technical specifications . Solid knowledge of power distribution, MCCs, switchgear, rotating equipment, valves, control systems, and instrumentation . Familiarity with applicable codes and standards such as ANSI, ASTM, ASME, NEMA, API, NFPA, IEC, and NEC . Proficient in the use of mechanical/electrical measurement and test instruments (multimeters, meggers, torque tools, gauges, etc.). Strong analytical, problem-solving, and root-cause investigation skills. Excellent communication, teamwork, and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with engineering, production, construction, and customer teams. Ability to work independently and adapt to a fast-paced, changing project environment. Willingness to travel to project and construction sites as required.
