Accountant

What you’ll be doing You’ll take ownership of the monthly management accounts, ensuring accuracy across balance sheet and intercompany reconciliations, and supporting the business through year-end and external audit. You’ll also have responsibility for transactional finance – overseeing purchase and sales ledger, cashbook, bank recs, and intercompany movements, while leading and developing a small team to meet deadlines and maintain high standards. There’s a strong commercial edge too: * Support budgeting, forecasting, and the annual rent-setting process * Monitor and analyse spend, income, and cashflow to improve value for money * Present meaningful reports and analysis to the Senior Leadership Team * Review and enhance internal reporting, systems, and policies * Manage supplier contracts, terms, and negotiations You’ll play a key part in improving processes, supporting operational decision-making, and increasing the standard and value of financial information used across the organisation. Who will succeed here? Likely someone who is: * Part-qualified or qualified by experience in finance * Confident managing all aspects of transactional and management accounting * A natural team leader, with a collaborative and supportive style * Experienced in improving processes and enhancing reporting * Comfortable working directly with senior leaders and external stakeholders Exposure to housing, care, or the not-for-profit sector might be useful, but it’s not a deal-breaker
