Full Stack Developer (LIT UI)

Title: Full Stack Developer (LIT UI) Location: Halifax, NS Position Overview: We are seeking a Full Stack Developer with strong hands-on experience in TypeScript, Node.js, PostgreSQL, and Kafka to contribute to the development and enhancement of a Learning Interpretability Tool (LIT) UI platform. The ideal candidate will have expertise across both frontend and backend development, with a focus on building scalable, performant, and maintainable web applications. You will work closely with cross-functional teams including product managers, data scientists, and UI/UX designers to deliver high-quality, data-driven applications that support machine learning interpretability and visualization. Key Responsibilities: Design, develop, and maintain web applications with a focus on both frontend (LIT UI) and backend (Node.js, TypeScript). Implement robust and scalable APIs to integrate frontend and backend components. Develop reusable UI components and ensure responsive, accessible, and user-friendly interfaces. Work with PostgreSQL databases for data modeling, optimization, and efficient query execution. Build event-driven microservices leveraging Kafka for real-time data processing and communication. Collaborate with data engineering and machine learning teams to integrate interpretability tools and models into the platform. Participate in code reviews, testing, and deployment activities to ensure software quality and stability. Troubleshoot and resolve performance bottlenecks, scalability issues, and integration challenges. Contribute to architectural discussions and recommend improvements for performance and maintainability. Required Skills & Experience: 3–6 years of professional full-stack development experience. Strong proficiency in TypeScript and Node.js . Experience with PostgreSQL including schema design, query optimization, and stored procedures. Hands-on experience with Kafka or other messaging/event streaming platforms. Frontend experience with frameworks such as React.js , Angular , or similar (LIT UI familiarity is an advantage). Strong understanding of RESTful API design and microservices architecture. Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments and using CI/CD pipelines. Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) is a plus. Excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to work independently in a distributed team environment. Preferred Qualifications: Experience working with machine learning visualization tools or interpretability frameworks. Knowledge of containerization technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.
