Senior Software Engineer

Job Title: Senior Software Developer – API Duration: 12 Months Location: Toronto (Hybrid) Pay Rate: CAD$80 - CAD$90/hr INC Overview: Seeking an experienced Senior API Software Developer (8 years) to design, build, and maintain RESTful APIs and microservices within a large-scale modernization initiative. The role involves developing scalable and secure backend solutions using Java, Spring Boot, and Azure Services , ensuring high performance, reliability, and integration with multiple business systems. Key Responsibilities: Design and develop REST APIs, including endpoints, authentication, and error handling. Build modular microservices with secure inter-service communication. Implement API-driven data transformation and routing. Optimize API performance, reliability, and scalability. Ensure security using OAuth2, JWT, and SAML standards. Create database schemas, conduct unit tests, and maintain technical documentation. Deploy containerized applications using Docker and Kubernetes. Integrate monitoring, logging, and CI/CD pipelines. Provide technical mentorship and support production issue resolution. Required Skills: Strong proficiency in Java, Spring Boot, and REST API design . Expertise in microservices architecture and event-driven systems . Hands-on experience with Azure Services , messaging queues , and Spring Integration . Proficient in SQL and relational databases (SQL Server, Oracle). Familiarity with OAuth2, JWT, SAML , and API security standards. Experience with asynchronous communication and multi-threading . Strong problem-solving, debugging, and documentation skills. Nice to Have: Experience in public sector or justice systems . Knowledge of data transformation (JSON, XML, CSV).
