Job Description
Our Canadian-owned, Agribusiness client is seeking an experienced Farm Operations Manager to lead all aspects of crop production and orchard operations at their Ontario location. This role will oversee both seasonal and permanent farm staff, ensuring high standards of productivity, quality and safety. The position combines hands-on leadership with strategic planning to optimize yields, implement best practices and enhance long-term farm sustainability. Reporting to the General Manager, you will: Plan, organize, and manage all orchard operations, including pruning, planting, irrigation, fertilizer, pest management and harvesting. Supervise, train, and schedule farm staff and seasonal workers to ensure efficiency, quality and safety across all tasks. Monitor crop performance, soil health, and overall field conditions, making timely operational adjustments to improve results. Oversee farm equipment and infrastructure maintenance, ensuring reliability and proper use. Develop and implement operational strategies that improve yield, quality and cost efficiency. Maintain compliance with all food safety, environmental, and health & safety standards. Collaborate with senior management on budgeting, cost control, and resource planning. Manage inventory of supplies, inputs, and harvested crops, ensuring accurate tracking and reporting. Support expansion projects, including new crop development and infrastructure enhancements. Your background includes: Proven experience managing orchard operations, ideally in fruit or specialty crop production. Strong leadership skills with the ability to build, train and motivate a diverse workforce. Knowledge of crop management practices, soil health, irrigation systems and integrated pest management. Experience managing seasonal and offshore labour teams: Spanish language is an asset. Mechanical aptitude for managing and maintaining farm equipment. Understanding of regulatory standards related to food safety and workplace safety. Excellent organizational, problem-solving, communication skills and a willingness to learn. Willingness to work extended hours during planting, harvest and spraying seasons. This is a full-time position with minimal travel for trade shows and meetings, including internationally.
