Position: Senior Accountant (Generalist)Location: MontrealPerks: 35-hour work week, hybrid, pension 9% and moreA privately held investment firm based in Quebec is seeking a Senior Accountant (Generalist) to join its dynamic and growing finance team. The firm manages a diversified portfolio of investments across multiple sectors and geographies, including private equity, hedge funds, real estate, food and beverage, technology, and entertainment. In addition to third-party investment vehicles, the firm actively manages local strategic real estate and food-related investment initiatives, as well as international technology funds.Position Summary:The Senior Accountant (Generalist) will play a key role in managing full-cycle accounting and financial reporting for a variety of entities within the investment portfolio. This position requires a proactive individual with strong accounting expertise, a process-improvement mindset, and a collaborative approach. Reporting directly to the Manager of Accounting Services, the successful candidate will contribute to internal reporting, audit preparation, and the ongoing optimization of accounting processes.Key Responsibilities:- Oversee full-cycle accounting for a diverse group of companies and investment entities.- Record investment-related transactions and support reconciliation and documentation.- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements under ASPE or ASNPO.- Collaborate across departments to streamline and improve accounting workflows.- Identify and implement process improvements and automation using tools such as Power Query, pivot tables, and macros.- Lead or assist in the preparation of audit files and year-end financial packages.- Analyze financial data and produce reports to support internal decision-making.- Ensure proper documentation and internal controls across all accounting functions.- Support ad hoc projects, reporting requests, and operational improvements.Qualifications:- Bachelor's degree in Accounting.- CPA designation (or in progress).- Strong knowledge of ASPE and ASNPO.-3-5 years of experience in an accounting or financial services environment; experience with investment accounting is a plus.- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
