Job Location

Oxfordshire, UK, United Kingdom

Job Description

We are seeking an enthusiastic Process Engineer with expertise in process development and scale-up. The ideal candidate will have a background in chemical engineering and experience transforming process concepts into full-scale designs. The role focuses on executing small-scale projects — including process development, modifications, and pilot installations — to establish and enhance production techniques for next-generation silicon anode and battery materials. You'll work in a fast-evolving environment, combining detailed technical delivery with the implementation of robust engineering practices and support for small-scale production runs. Responsibilities: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design, implement, and optimise processes using sound chemical engineering principles. Develop process flow diagrams (PFDs), piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs), and equipment specifications. Define process control strategies, instrumentation requirements, and alarm management. Lead or support process design projects, ensuring safety and control are fully integrated. Provide technical expertise on process design, scale-up, and control. Manage small process installation projects to improve production or implement new technologies. Prepare cost–benefit analyses and proposals for research and production initiatives. Support the development of process engineering standards and best practices. Requirements: Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering with 5–10 years' experience in process design, development, or plant implementation. Proven ability to deliver process modifications and small-scale installations from concept to completion. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and data interpretation skills. Hands-on experience in process control and instrumentation. Effective communicator and proactive team player with a strong interest in innovation and continuous improvement. Desirable Experience: Working with flammable/explosive atmospheres, dust handling, or high-pressure systems. Knowledge of functional safety, DSEAR, PFMEA, and risk assessment. Experience in process design within chemical or advanced materials industries.
