Your personal sphere of play:The Research Group “Quantum Transport Lab” under the lead of Ass.-Prof. Luca Banszerus, which is a part of the “Nanomagnetism and Magnonics” Research Unit under the direction of Univ.-Prof. Dr. Andrii Chumak at the Faculty of Physics, University of Vienna, is a young and ambitious team conducting internationally leading research in the fields of quantum transport in nanoelectronic devices, particularly those based on two-dimensional (2D) materials such as graphene, transition metal dichalcogenides, and more complex van-der-Waals heterostructures. The research scope of the Research Unit also includes spin-wave physics, inverse-design magnonics, spintronics, millikelvin-temperature quantum physics, unconventional computing, and nonlinear spin-wave phenomena in nanoscale hybrid systems. We are looking for a Postdoctoral Researcher with outstanding expertise in experimental low-temperature physics to support the group in its cutting-edge research and taking responsibility for the group's low-temperature measurement setups and infrastructure. The position is limited to six years.Your future tasks:Active participation in research, teaching & administration, which means:Support the operation and maintenance of the Physical Properties Measurement System (PPMS) at the Faculty of Physics and related cryogenic infrastructure.Support the operation and maintenance of the millikelvin dilution refrigerators in the Research Unit “Nanomagnetism and Magnonics”.Contribute to the research goals of the Research Group “Quantum Transport Lab” as a Postdoctoral Researcher.Train users in the operation of cryogenic measurement setups.Hold courses independently within the scope of the provisions of the collective bargaining agreement.You take on administrative tasks in research, teaching and administration. This is part of your personality:Hold a doctoral degree in experimental physics.Possess extensive experience in the operation and setting up of low-temperature measurement setups, including dilution refrigerators.A solid knowledge base and experience in low-temperature physics, superconductivity and spintronics are highly desirable.Demonstrate strong programming and experimental research skills.Excellent knowledge of English. Advanced knowledge of German is an advantage.Team player and high social/communicative skills.
