Job Overview The SQL & Integration Specialist at Butterfield & Robinson thrives on solving complex data challenges, enjoys working across multiple database environments, and has a knack for building efficient, reliable data integrations. The SQL & Integration Specialist works to support the IT and Digital Experience teams under the direction of the Director, IT. The SQL & Integration Specialist will work cross-functional teams to design, maintain, and optimize data flows between internal and external systems. This position requires a balance of strong technical expertise, analytical thinking, and excellent communication skills. Key Responsibilities Support the design, develop, and maintain SQL databases (Microsoft SQL Server, PostgreSQL) under the direction of the Director of IT. Build and optimize SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) reports and dashboards. Manage, monitor, and tune database performance and reliability. Develop and maintain data integrations using ETL/ELT tools. Write and maintain Python scripts (NumPy, Pandas, Matplotlib) for data transformation, analysis, and automation. Collaborate with Agile teams, participating in sprints, stand-ups, and planning sessions. Partner with the Senior Business Analyst (Power BI) to ensure data consistency, accessibility, and integrity across analytical and reporting environments. Translate business needs into data solutions, reports, and pseudo-code where needed. Create and maintain documentation of data structures, integrations, and workflows. Provide ad hoc data analysis and reporting support using Excel and other tools. Oversee ongoing development and maintenance of data transfer protocols with our vendors Act as the primary point of contact with vendors’ data specialists Essential Skills, Qualifications and Experience Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field. 3-5 years of experience in database engineering, development, or a related field. Advanced proficiency in SQL (Microsoft SQL Server and/or PostgreSQL). Strong experience with SSRS report development. Experience with ETL/integration tools - Experience with: Dell Boomi, MuleSoft, TIBCO Scribe, n8n a strong asset. Solid Python skills, particularly for data handling – experience with: NumPy, Pandas, Matplotlib a strong asset. Strong Excel skills, including advanced formulas, pivot tables, and data modeling. Strong understanding of data governance and security best practices. Excellent communication and documentation abilities. Skills and Characteristics Creative and independent thinker with sound judgment. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. High attention to detail. Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to interact with all levels of the business. Ability to maintain a high degree of professionalism and confidentiality. Must be highly organized, flexible and have the demonstrated ability to take initiative. Self-starter with strong problem-solving skills and a “rugged independence” mindset. Occasionally may be required to work outside of regular work hours during high demand times.
