Job Description

At GieseckeDevrient (GD) , we develop technologies that protect identities, payments, and data infrastructures worldwide. We’re looking for a Private Cloud Architect to join our IT Team in Barcelona. You will play a key role in shaping a new, sovereign private cloud platform that spans multiple European regions — ensuring performance, reliability, and data sovereignty at the highest level. This is a strategic and highly technical position for someone who thrives on innovation, system design, and collaboration across international teams. What will you do? Design the multi-region private cloud topology — define compute, storage, and networking layouts optimized for resilience and scalability. Select and standardize the technology stack — evaluate and integrate hypervisors, container platforms (Kubernetes/OpenShift), storage fabrics, and orchestration tools. Embed security and compliance — ensure GDPR, ISO 27001, and PCI-DSS alignment, implementing encryption and data sovereignty controls. Drive collaboration across teams — act as the architectural interface between GD stakeholders, R&D, and security teams. Lead proof-of-concepts and architecture review boards to validate design assumptions. Optimize for reliability and cost — define SLIs/SLOs, implement observability (metrics, logging, tracing), and model capacity growth and ROI. What are we looking for? Your professional background: 7 years of experience designing and delivering private or hybrid cloud platforms in enterprise environments. Proven experience in multi-region deployments with stringent SLA requirements (≥99.998%). Deep knowledge of VMware vSphere , KVM/OpenStack , and container orchestration (Kubernetes/OpenShift) . Strong proficiency in Infrastructure as Code and automation tools ( Terraform, Ansible, etc. ). Expertise in software-defined networking (SDN) , VPN/MPLS , and enterprise storage solutions . Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines (GitLab CI, Jenkins) and observability tools (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK/EFK, Splunk) . Fluent English (spoken and written); French is a plus. Your human side: Excellent communicator, able to explain complex architectures clearly to both technical and business audiences. Analytical and structured mindset with a focus on reliability and continuous improvement. Collaborative spirit — capable of mentoring and guiding multidisciplinary teams. Proactive, curious, and motivated to make an impact in a global tech organization. What’s great about working with us? Culture & Diversity: Inclusive, people-oriented environment with a global mindset (LGBT friendly). Global Collaboration: Work with international teams across multiple regions. Innovation & Impact: Lead a project that defines the future of secure digital infrastructure in Europe. Career Development: Continuous learning, internal mobility, and coaching opportunities. Benefits: Flexible compensation plan (health insurance, transport, training, nursery vouchers), parking, and on-site canteen. Work-Life Balance: Hybrid model and flexible schedule. Core hours Mon–Thu (9:30–17:00), Fri (9:00–15:00). Location: Easily accessible by public transport (Bus 88, 110, Metro L10 ZAL-Riu Vell, PR4) or private vehicle.
