Technical Buyer / Estimator – Scunthorpe Sector: Metallurgical Plant Solutions | Heavy Industry / Fabrication Experience Essential NES Fircroft is proud to be partnering with a global leader in metallurgical plant solutions, currently seeking a Technical Buyer/Estimator to join their team in Scunthorpe. This is a key role supporting workshop operations, where you'll be responsible for sourcing and procuring parts and services required for ongoing projects. You’ll work closely with the Sales Engineer and Operations Manager to ensure materials and services are delivered on time, within budget, and to specification. A strong background in heavy industry or fabrication is essential, as you'll be navigating complex supplier networks and technical requirements that demand hands-on sector knowledge. Key Responsibilities Liaise with suppliers to ensure quality, delivery timelines, and pricing meet project requirements Generate and manage purchase orders in line with company standards and policies Maintain strong supplier relationships through regular contact and follow-up Support product development strategies to drive standardisation and cost-effective manufacturing Prepare accurate costings and estimates for incoming customer enquiries Collaborate with Sales and Operations to monitor project progress, resolve issues, and ensure successful delivery Skills & Experience Required Proven experience in technical buying/procurement Solid understanding of heavy industry or fabrication processes Commercial awareness and supplier relationship management Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment Strong written and verbal communication skills Proficiency in SAP and Microsoft Office Awareness of international business cultures (desirable) Flexibility to travel to supplier and project sites as needed Full UK driving licence and unrestricted right to work and travel internationally Benefits Flexible and hybrid working options Company-paid private healthcare (Westfield) Cash allowance for lifestyle benefits (fitness, streaming, greenspace memberships) Up to 10% matching pension scheme Minimum 26 days annual leave with buy/sell options Personal development plans and chartership support Opportunity to grow within a global industry leader
