The AWS Data Center Design Engineering - BIM Technology team is innovating with Building Information Modeling (BIM) and GenAI services to design, build, and operate Amazon data center facilities worldwide. Our team owns the implementation, adoption, and maintenance of disruptive BIM and GenAI technologies (first-party and third-party) that support the design, construction, and operation of Amazon-owned data center facilities globally. This role offers a unique opportunity to blend software engineering excellence with a customer-obsessed mindset, navigate ambiguity, and deliver impactful solutions that transform data center engineering capabilities. Key responsibilities Serve as a technical lead on our most demanding, cross-functional projects. Translate functional requirements into robust, scalable, supportable solutions that fit within the overall system architecture. Evaluate and decide on the use of new or existing software products and tools. Help establish technical standards and drive the overall technical architecture and engineering practices. Have unique exposure to BIM and GenAI technologies used in the architecture, engineering, and construction (AEC) of data center facilities globally. Work closely with data center engineers, BIM technologists, and other end users to design experiments with machine learning / deep learning techniques and implement end-to-end solutions. Coordinate third-party technology or API implementations, align and influence technology roadmaps. Apply the highest security standards when building and shipping new software products and tools. Make significant contributions to the team roadmap and future planning. Mentor and guide junior engineers on design, coding, troubleshooting, and operational excellence. Participate in the Amazon-wide Software Development Community, including internal and external Meetups, Hackathons, and Conferences. Basic Qualifications 7 years of non-internship professional software development experience Experience as a mentor, tech lead, or leading an engineering team 7 years of programming with at least one software programming language 7 years of leading design or architecture (design patterns, reliability, and scaling) of new and existing systems Preferred Qualifications 7 years of full software development lifecycle experience (coding standards, code reviews, source control, build processes, testing, and operations) Bachelor’s degree in computer science or equivalent Experience developing custom BIM software and integrations with third-party APIs (e.g., Autodesk Platform Services) Experience building software on AWS Amazon is an equal opportunity employer and does not discriminate on the basis of protected veteran status, disability, or other legally protected status. The base pay for this position ranges from $151,300/year to $261,500/year. Pay is based on factors including market location, knowledge, skills, and experience.
