Technical Engineer Position

Diagnose, repair, and maintain handheld and vehiclemounted devices (Honeywell, Zebra, Datalogic) down to board level Perform repairs and servicing of industrial thermal printers (e.g. Honeywell PM43, Zebra ZT410), including component replacement, adjustments, and preventive maintenance (Optional) Service and maintain line printers, dot matrix printers, and card printers Handle firmware upgrades, reprogramming of new main boards, and reconfiguration after component replacement Stage and configure new mobile / handheld devices for deployment at customer sites Conduct onsite preventative maintenance on mobility equipment at customer locations Undertake callouts to diagnose and repair faulty mobility and printing equipment in the field Perform installations of new systems or devices when required Configure devices for sales demonstrations Use and support barcode / label printing software (BarTender, NiceLabel) Support and troubleshoot application software (e.g. Velocity for Android, terminal emulators) Complete all documentation (repair logs, service reports, parts used, SLA tracking) accurately and legibly Maintain good housekeeping, tool control, and safety practices in both workshop and field environments Work independently with minimal supervision while escalating complex issues appropriately Meet workshop turnaround times and SLA targets A Certification or Diploma in Information Technology / Electronics / related discipline 2 to 3 years experience in hardware repair up to board level Proven experience working on handheld computers (Honeywell, Zebra, Datalogic) Experience with vehicle mount computers, e.g. Honeywell VM1 Experience servicing industrial thermal transfer label printers (e.g. Honeywell PM43, Zebra ZT410) (Advantageous) Experience with line / dot matrix / card printers Knowledge and practical use of 2.4GHz and 5GHz network protocols and devices Experience in firmware upgrades, flashing, bootloaders, etc. Ability to reprogram main boards / custom firmware after board replacement Strong diagnostic / faultfinding skills for scanners, printers, etc. Ability to perform preventative & corrective maintenance in the field Competence in staging, configuring, and provisioning mobile devices Familiarity with barcode / label software (BarTender, NiceLabel) Understanding of relevant applications (Velocity / terminal emulators) Good written and verbal communication (for reports, customer interaction) Selfmotivated, organized, and able to manage time under pressure Willingness to travel / be on call for field service Valid drivers license and (if required) own transport
