Purpose of the job To manage the sustainability reporting, integrated reporting and thinking area in so far as influencing the standards and legislation, keeping members abreast of the latest developments, providing technical support to members and managing relationships with key stakeholders. Key/main outputs Output 1: Stakeholder engagement and management Identification of key stakeholders. Building and maintaining relationships with key stakeholders in terms of the sustainability reporting and integrated reporting/thinking stakeholder management plan. Engaging with key stakeholders in order to identify collaborative opportunities on issues of mutual interest. Manage internal process to ensure deployed members to external structures properly represent the views and interests of SAICA and report back on the outcomes of stakeholders. Represent SAICA on external structures and forums relevant to this role. This would include representation at both local and global structures. Provide reports to the Head of Sustainability and Integrated Reporting and/or the technical committee on outcomes of stakeholder engagements. Output 2: External media and internal magazine Formulate an external media plan, in consultation with Head of Sustainability and Integrated Reporting and Brand team. Build reputation and influence through focused technical/thought leadership content, built on current affairs and market movements, also opening opportunities to profile members. Collaborate with members and stakeholders on key research areas to ensure sustainability and integrated thinking concepts are central to decision making. Ensure compilation of effective technical content for publication in SAICAs accountancy magazine and other internal or external publication platforms. Engage with the media and speaking on public platforms adhering to SAICAs Media Policy. Output 3: Keeping members abreast of the latest developments through the relevant communication channels, including media engagement Continuously provide relevant and timeous updates to members and articles in a cost effective and innovative manner. Proactively seek to engage with the media to raise awareness and ensure SAICA views remain relevant. Manage the integrated thinking, sustainability and integrated reporting page of the SAICA website to ensure that it is kept up to date. Reviewing and performing quality control, where relevant, on technical content relating sustainability matters for consumption by members/business community. Identifying relevant sustainability reporting and integrated reporting/thinking topics for the member publications such as newsletters. Develop and implement communication plan, in consultation with Head of Sustainability and Integrated Reporting, to ensure that members are appropriately and timeously communicated with as it relates to sustainability matters. Output 4: Compiling submissions on proposed changes to standards, legislation and other relevant proposed pronouncements Overseeing the sustainability reporting and integrated reporting/thinking standard-setting activities within SAICA and identify relevant mechanisms to influence the local and global financial reporting standardsetting process. Ensuring that submissions (reactive/proactive) on proposed sustainability reporting and integrated reporting/pronouncements (e.g. exposure drafts, discussion papers) are made to the relevant standardsetting bodies or regulators timeously. Managing the technical structures and committee processes involved in influencing the standard-setting process. Conduct research, where relevant, that informs submissions. Perform quality control over submissions made to standard-setting bodies/regulators. Output 5: To develop technical guidance such as guides or FAQs Review relevant new and proposed sustainability reporting and integrated reporting/thinking pronouncements through consultation with the relevant financial reporting structures. Identify issues affecting the profession and members and perform a needs analysis. The outcome of this analysis may necessitate the development of a technical resource. Manage and/or conduct research that informs the development of the technical resource. Work closely with the technical committee in achieving the issuance of the guidance/technical resource. Ensure that quality assurance processes are in place that provide a level of comfort on the quality of the technical resources issued prior to publication. Output 6: To manage the technical query system Manage and/or review the sustainability reporting and integrated reporting/thinking queries. Ensure that queries are responded to timeously. Manage the technical query system in so far as it relates to sustainability reporting and integrated reporting/thinking by performing a quality control review on the relevant queries. Output 7: Planning and delivery of sustainability events Identify and validate members and stakeholders needs. Identify the relevant sustainability reporting and integrated reporting/thinking experts for SAICA seminars/workshops. Develop the sustainability reporting and integrated reporting/thinking CPD plan, in consultation with the Head of Sustainability and Integrated Reporting. Implement the sustainability reporting and integrated reporting/thinking CPD plan. Develop and implement the marketing plan for the identified CPD interventions, in consultation with the Brand team. Present and/or facilitate the events. Output 8: Committee Management Oversee the sustainability committee and ensure that is effectively managed. Ensure that structures are managed in line with the internal governance processes. Manage the implementation of the structures work plan and outputs. Ensure that structures are regularly kept up to date on key developments. Output 9: Development and implementation of the sustainability work plan Develop and implement the sustainability reporting and integrated reporting/thinking plan, in consultation, with the Head of Sustainability and Integrated Reporting. Contribute to the development of the Sustainability and Integrated Reporting strategy that is aligned to the SAICA strategy. Meet the objectives, key result area and targets as set out in the sustainability reporting and integrated reporting/thinking plan. Manage all projects in terms of the sustainability reporting and integrated reporting/thinking plan. Provide appropriate feedback on activities, progress on action items and status to the Head of Sustainability and Integrated Reporting and staff in order to keep them up to date, on a regular basis, on all related issues. Output 10: Other responsibilities Management of subordinates. Manage expenditure in line with the set targets and budget. Preserving and expanding the Institutes intellectual capital by complying with the appropriate knowledge management processes and procedures. Identifying synergies and collaborate with other SAICA divisions, where required. Practical demonstration and living out of the SAICA values. Provide input into the Sustainability and Integrated Reporting divisions budget. Conduct procurement of goods and services in accordance with the SAICA Procurement Policy. Document and capture identified risks in accordance with SAICAs Enterprise Risk Management Policy. Report periodically to the Risk Department and Head of Sustainability and Integrated Reporting on risks identified. Implement and manage privacy controls applicable to member structures and, services & products as per the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) Policy. Implement and manage intellectual property produced through appropriate data management procedures and protect such IP through relevant copyright marks & disclaimers and appropriate archiving. Provide support to the Head of Sustainability and Integrated Reporting on relevant administrative and strategic matters that further the activities of SAICA or require reporting. In consultation with the Head, act, present or partake in activities with the Head or on behalf of the Head. Serve on relevant internal structures to support the overall efficient and effectiveness of SAICA. Accountable to ensure that quarterly reports are provided for submission to the Head of Sustainability and Integrated Reporting on activities and performance. Provides design input into relevant digitisation projects and feedback on implementation challenges. Manage data produced or recorded in your portfolio to ensure integrity, security and retention of relevant data and deletion of irrelevant or unnecessary data. Stay informed about new and emerging technologies relevant to your role Adopt and embrace AI-driven tools and automation to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and effectiveness in job-related tasks, while continuously seeking opportunities to improve processes through innovative technology solutions Identify and support SAICAs management of risks related to sustainability, including environmental risks, regulatory changes and social risks and integrating them into business continuity and risk management plans Formal Education CA(SA) AGA(SA) BSc Honours/Post graduate qualification in science or Law Technical/Legal Certification Knowledge and understanding of: Ethics Gap Analysis (GAPP) and POPIA Good command of King IV & UN Principles on Business Human Rights and SDGs South African legislation - Companys Act ISO Environmental Assurance or Assurance Applicable International Standard on Sustainability Assurance (ISSA) Global Reporting Initiatives (GRI) Task Force on Climate -Related Financial Disclosure (TCFD) and Task Force on Nature Related Financial Disclosures (TNFD) ISSB Sustainability standards (IFRS S1 and IFRS S2) European Sustainability Reporting standards (ESRS) Sustainability Assurance Experience At least seven (7) years` experience (post articles) in a technical or regulatory or standard-setting environment. At least three (3) years managerial experience in a role Professional experience in implementing sustainability strategies, Integrated and sustainability reporting frameworks and ESG risks. Media & public speaking experience Stakeholder engagement experience Ability to negotiate, present, lobby and engage on local and global platforms Project management skills - Ability to manage tasks and assignments using a project-based approach.
