Purpose of the job The Chief Information Officer (CIO) is responsible for defining, implementing, and managing the strategic direction, implementation, and maintenance of SAICA's technology, data, and information systems and tools. This role focuses on transforming SAICA into an insight-driven, digitally enabled organisation through leveraging innovative technologies, advanced analytics, AI, automation and data-driven decision-making to support strategic objectives, enhance operational efficiency, and deliver exceptional member value. Key Outputs 1. Strategy development and implementation Define and implement a technology-enabled strategic roadmap that enhances SAICAs agility and impact and integrates cloud computing, automation, and AI Leverage data analytics and digital intelligence to shape future business models and service offerings Foster a culture where human-led insights complement digital transformation Ensure strategic alignment with global trends in AI, sustainability, and governance Conduct assessments of current IT capabilities and future needs Align IT initiatives with organisational goals and member expectations to produce a clearly defined and actionable IT and data strategy and supporting roadmap Drive alignment of IT investments with organisational priorities, and in line with Capex and budgetary guidelines as defined by Finance Implement technology roadmap, on time, within budget, achieving outcomes as prescribed in the business case/s, and while maintaining current system reliability to achieve SAICAs objectives to be insight led and digitally enabled 2. Information Systems Manage IT infrastructure, software systems, and platforms Ensure the scalability and reliability of IT systems Monitor system performance and address issues proactively to enable reliable and efficient IT systems supporting organisational processes Focus on continual improvement of service delivery and user experience for SAICA members and stakeholders 3. Digital Transformation, Business Intelligence & AI Integration Identify opportunities for automation, analytics, and AI across the business to enhance service delivery and maximise cost efficiency Develop and implement a digital transformation roadmap in line with the needs identified above, ensuring a proven investment case/s for digital use cases Co-ordinate and drive the transition to an insights driven organisation through the provision of a Data Analytics capability that works closely with the business to identify and deliver data enabled solutions and use cases that benefit the business through enhanced solution delivery, improved revenue and/or reduced risks and costs Enable improved member engagement through personalised and data-driven services working closely with the Customer Experience Officer Utilise machine learning for predictive business analytics. Enhance workflow efficiency through intelligent automation. Ensure that technology enhances, rather than replaces, human-centred decision-making 4. Governance, Security, and Compliance Establish and enforce data governance frameworks Maintain strong data privacy and cybersecurity measures and the cybersecurity risk evolves, develop and implement cybersecurity protocols and controls Implement real-time cyber risk monitoring and threat detection Monitor compliance with local and international data regulations to enable strong data security and privacy standards Ensure full compliance with data protection laws (e.g., POPIA, GDPR). Reduce the risk of data breaches and reputational damage through effective data governance and management Ensure human-led ethical oversight in AI governance 5. Stakeholder Management and Collaboration Engage with internal and external stakeholders to understand their needs Participate in executive planning sessions and working groups Build partnerships with technology vendors and thought leaders Deliver IT solutions tailored to stakeholder and organisational needs Deliver initiatives that align IT initiatives with sustainability and member value goals Utilise AI-driven insights to personalize engagement with regulators, members, and stakeholders Establish data-informed policy advocacy strategies Strengthen interactive stakeholder engagement platforms for knowledge-sharing and dialogue 6. Operational and budget oversight and Execution Oversee the integration of digital processes that improve organisational efficiency Introduce automated performance dashboards for real-time tracking of operational metrics Lead collaborative digital transformation initiatives across functions Engage employees to align digital tools with day-to-day human interactions Align technology investments with business objectives and financial sustainability Develop and monitor IT budgets Negotiate contracts with IT vendors and service providers to create strong, value driven vendor partnerships Optimise resource allocation for maximum impact Deliver cost-effective IT operations and strategic investments 7. Lead and Develop High-performing IT teams and workforce development Recruit, mentor, and retain top talent Provide training and development opportunities Foster collaboration and a growth-oriented mindset within teams Cultivate a high-performing and motivated team Drive continuous skill development and capability building Foster a culture of innovation and excellence within the IT function Provide digital training for non-technical teams to drive technology adoption. 8. Embrace And Drive Organisational Transformation Actively contribute to cost containment efforts by identifying opportunities for operational efficiencies, optimising resources, and ensuring value-driven decision-making in daily activities . Support the organisations transformation into an insights-driven organisation by leveraging data and analytics to enhance decision-making, improve processes, and drive continuous improvement in your area of work Effectively utilise digital tools and technology to enhance productivity, streamline workflows, and improve service delivery. Stay informed about new and emerging technologies relevant to your role Adopt and embrace AI-driven tools and automation to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and effectiveness in job-related tasks, while continuously seeking opportunities to improve processes through innovative technology solutions Identify and support the organisation's management of risks related to sustainability, including environmental risks, regulatory changes and social risks and integrating them into business continuity and risk management plans. Qualifications Bachelors degree in information technology, Computer Science, Business Administration, or related field (required). Masters degree in IT Management, Business Administration, or equivalent (preferred). Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA). Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), ITIL, COBIT, or equivalent certifications (preferred). Experience Minimum of 10 years in IT leadership roles, with at least 5 years at a senior management level. Proven experience in driving digital transformation and implementing data analytics strategies. Experience in managing IT operations in a professional services or membership-based organisation is advantageous. Knowledge of relevant legal and compliance requirements, including data protection laws (e.g., POPIA, GDPR). Knowledge Information Technology Deep knowledge of the IT functional areas: Technology Architecture, Systems Design and Implementation, Data Analytics, Automation and AI. Business Acumen Knowledge and understanding of the principles of business, the application thereof, the opportunities within business and the seizure of such opportunities Performance management Understanding performance management policies and procedures HR and IT policy and procedures Understanding HR and IT policies and procedures to support people management and business processes Governance and Compliance Ability to implement and follow governance and compliance procedures. Strong understanding of cybersecurity and compliance standards
