Data Engineer

They are currently looking for a Data Engineer based in Johannesburg (Hybrid), responsible for designing, building, and maintaining scalable data pipelines, integrating diverse data sources, and supporting analytics and AI initiatives across the business. Requirements: · Proven experience as a Senior Data Engineer in a data-intensive environment, designing and maintaining scalable data pipelines. · Deep, hands-on expertise with Databricks and PySpark for large-scale data processing. · Strong programming skills in Python and advanced proficiency in SQL, including complex query optimization. · Solid understanding of modern data architecture, data warehousing principles, and data modeling (e.g., Lakehouse). · Experience working in an agile or sprint-based development environment. · Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience). · Excellent problem-solving abilities, communication skills, and the ability to work in a hybrid Johannesburg office environment. Bonus / Nice-to-Haves: · Experience with Snowflake or migrating legacy systems (e.g., SAS) to modern data platforms. · Familiarity with the insurance or financial services sector. · Experience in a consulting role, working directly with clients.
