Job Description
The Group Accountant is responsible for ensuring accurate financial reporting, statutory compliance, and the maintenance of sound internal controls across a multi-entity group. This is a role requiring an individual who can work independently, manage their own deadlines, and take ownership of end-to-end accounting processes. Responsibilities: Financial Reporting & Compliance Prepare accurate financial statements and management accounts for the group. Manage statutory submissions and ensure compliance with financial, statutory, and regulatory requirements. Maintain accurate records and ensure audit readiness. Month-End & Year-End Close Independently manage the month-end and year-end close processes. Complete reconciliations and resolve accounting discrepancies across group entities. Ensure consistency and accuracy in financial records. Internal Controls & Governance Implement and maintain internal controls to safeguard financial integrity. Ensure processes are documented and followed consistently. Act as the single point of accountability for financial governance across the group. Management Reporting & Analysis Prepare management reports, board packs, and variance analyses. Support budgeting and forecasting processes. Provide timely financial insights to support decision-making. Systems & Efficiency Take ownership of accounting systems, with a strong emphasis on Xero. Ensure accurate and efficient use of the system across the group. Continuously identify opportunities to improve financial processes. Essential Requirement: BCom Accounting or equivalent qualification. Minimum 4 years experience in financial accounting and compliance. Thorough, hands-on knowledge of Xero accounting software. Thorough, hands-on knowledge of corporate tax (specifically VAT and income tax) compliance and administration Strong ability to work independently, manage multiple deadlines, and deliver under pressure. Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail. Effective communication and stakeholder engagement abilities. Beneficial Requirements: Completed articles (SAICA/SAIPA) Experience in a multi-entity or group environment. Exposure to audit processes and internal control frameworks. Advanced Excel and financial reporting skills.
