Assistant Accountant

Downey Osborne is working with a well-respected company thats seeking to appoint an Assistant Accountant to strengthen its finance team. This is an excellent opportunity to take ownership of a key finance role across two Belfast sites, working closely with senior management in a supportive and forward-looking environment. Extra annual leave days with length of service Generous group discounts Pension scheme Save As You Earn scheme Ongoing professional development through tailored training programmes Study Support About You Part-qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent) Strong accounting experience, in fast-paced sector Commercially minded with excellent communication, organisational, and analytical skills Payroll experience essential Strong internal control awareness with the ability to build effective relationships across teams Your Responsibilities Always: Prepare and review weekly revenue and payroll forecasts Take a leading role in the month-end process, including reconciliations, lead schedules, and variance analysis Manage income audits to ensure accuracy, consistency, and completeness Ensure financial controls and procedures are robust, sustainable, and up to date Often: Review costs and implement processes to identify savings Champion weekly/daily meetings with Heads of Department Act as a key advisor to the Financial Controller and General Manager Occasionally: Liaise with auditors and support with internal audit reviews, ensuring corrective actions are agreed and implemented Contribute to process improvement projects and the introduction of more effective ways of working Manage debt collection to ensure timely payments Never: Wonder if there is a chance to grow within this firm Intercept a gorilla and lion fighting.
