Youth Officer - This is a permanent part time position (0.6 FTE) Adelaide Hills Council is seeking a Youth Officer to support positive outcomes for young people across our district. This position involves identifying and delivering opportunities that respond to the diverse strengths, challenges, and needs of young people from a range of backgrounds and abilities. You will contribute to the development of plans and initiatives aligned with strategic priorities, such as connection, wellbeing, and empowering young people to influence decision-making. You will also play a key role in delivering programs based on community need and informed through genuine engagement and consultation with young people. Reporting to the Team Leader Community Development, you as the Youth Officer will support opportunities for young people to have fun, build local connections and to enjoy life in the Adelaide Hills as valued members of the community. This role offers an excellent pathway for someone with experience in engaging and working with young people, to broaden their scope, gain new insights, and develop their skills within a local government and corporate environment. About You To be successful in this role, you will have demonstrated experience working with young people from diverse backgrounds and knowledge of trends and issues impacting young people today. You will also have: Knowledge of external services and programs that are relevant to young people. Knowledge of relevant legislation and policies related to young people. Experience facilitating groups and workshops. Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills including: Proven ability to engage and build positive partnerships with external stakeholders. Experience using a range of online media. Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly, including writing reports, plans and grant applications. Qualifications in social sciences, community development, youth development, education or a related discipline are desirable. This is a prescribed position. As part of Adelaide Hills Council’s Safe Environments Policy, a current Working with Children Check, and undertaking Child Safe Environment Training every three years, are requirements of the position. A valid Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check satisfactory to the Council’s requirements. A valid Australian C class Drivers Licence.
