Expression of Interest: Independent Member – Finance, Audit & Risk Management Committee The Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists (RANZCP) is seeking expressions of interest from experienced finance and risk professionals to join its Finance, Audit & Risk Management (FARM) Committee as an Independent Member. About the Role FARM plays a vital role in advising the Board, ensuring it receives robust oversight, risk intelligence, and assurance of financial sustainability. This appointment reflects our ongoing commitment to strong independent oversight and continuous improvement in governance. As an Independent Member, you will bring high-level expertise in finance and risk, helping the College continue to apply rigorous and forward-looking financial stewardship. This role contributes to a core Board priority: safeguarding the long-term financial health and resilience of the College, ensuring it remains well-positioned to support and create value for members. Key Responsibilities Attend and actively contribute to Committee meetings (approximately six 2-hour virtual meetings per year). Provide timely expert advice to the Chair and Committee on financial, audit, and risk matters. Review and endorse the Committee and operational budgets and forecasts for Board approval. Monitor and update the Committee’s risk register in line with the College’s Risk Management Policy. Support the Committee’s strategic priorities and work plan, providing guidance on execution. Operate within delegated authority and ensure decisions follow relevant policies and governance standards. Undertake relevant professional development and financial education in consultation with the Chair. Maintain confidentiality, declare any conflicts of interest, and comply with the RANZCP’s Deed of Undertaking and Non-Disclosure Agreement. Time Commitment Approximately six 2-hour virtual meetings annually. Review and respond to committee materials and correspondence between meetings. Minimal in-person attendance may be required. Eligibility Applications are welcome from professionals based across Australia and New Zealand. Applicants should have significant experience in finance, audit, risk management, or related fields. Strong governance, strategic, and advisory skills are essential. Appointment and Reporting The Independent Member will be appointed in accordance with the College’s Appointment of an Independent Member to a Committee process. This is a full voting role, reporting to the Chair of the FARM Committee.
