Welding Engineer – Structural Steel | AS/NZS 3834 & AS/NZS 5131 Dandenong South, VIC | Full-Time | Immediate Start About the Role Join a leading structural steel fabrication and installation company delivering high profile commercial and infrastructure projects. We are seeking a skilled Welding Engineer to lead compliance, quality assurance, and technical support across our fabrication operations. This role is ideal for someone with knowledge of AS/NZS 3834 , AS/NZS 5131 & ISO 9001 , and a passion for driving excellence in fabrication standards. Tasks & Responsibilities Develop and qualify welding procedures Develop, implement, and manage processes to ensure fabrication is as per AS/NZS 3834 and AS/NZS 5131 and meets client specifications Monitor welding processes, consumables, and equipment to ensure compliance with WPS and record welding activities Manage welder qualifications, requalification processes and external testing providers Maintain registers for Weld Procedures and Welder Qualifications Examine and file production records for traceability and compliance Develop and maintain ITPs and MDR submissions Coordinate and manage NDT requests, ensuring compliance with project specifications and standards Liaise with certifying bodies, third party inspectors and project teams to ensure regulatory and contractual compliance Oversee general quality assurance across fabrication and installation Ensure supplier quality compliance Conduct final Quality Control / Assurance inspections and sign offs Qualifications & Experience To be successful in this role, you will: Hold Welding Supervisor AS 2214 and/or Welding Inspector qualifications Have 5 years’ experience in steel fabrication Knowledge with VicRoads 630 Self motivated, proactive, and working at a high standard Demonstrate excellent client liaison and contractor coordination skills Have extensive knowledge of Australian fabrication Codes and Standards Skills & Attributes Strong knowledge of welding codes and NDT requirements Proven experience across manual welding processes Demonstrated experience with ISO 9001 quality management systems Familiarity with NDT methods and coordination of third-party testing Strong communication and organisational skills, with the ability to lead and mentor under pressure Capable of producing reports and associated documentation Able to read and interpret structural drawings Have strong computer skills across the MS Office suite What’s on Offer Competitive salary based on experience Career development and training support Exposure to landmark projects
