Job Description

Job Title: Application Support Engineer Role Summary: We are seeking an experienced Application Support Engineer with strong technical expertise in Java technologies, databases, and ITIL frameworks to support, maintain, and enhance business-critical applications. The role involves troubleshooting complex issues, ensuring system stability, and collaborating with development and infrastructure teams to deliver high-quality support services. Key Responsibilities: * Provide L2/L3 application support for enterprise applications built on Java/J2EE stack. * Troubleshoot and resolve incidents related to Core Java, EJB, JDBC, and SQL queries. * Perform database analysis, query optimization, and issue resolution on DB2 and Oracle. * Monitor and support applications across Windows and Unix environments. * Handle incident, problem, and change management processes in line with ITIL best practices. * Collaborate with development teams to deploy patches, fixes, and enhancements. * Maintain technical documentation, knowledge base articles, and SOPs for recurring issues. * Support release and deployment activities, ensuring smooth migrations and minimal downtime. * Perform root cause analysis (RCA) and implement preventive measures to ensure stability. Required Skills & Experience: * 4–8 years of experience in Application/Production Support. * Strong hands-on skills in Core Java, J2EE, EJB, JDBC, and debugging Java-based applications. * Proficiency in SQL, DB2, Oracle (queries, stored procedures, performance tuning). * Experience in Windows and Unix environments, including scripting for automation. * Working knowledge of ITIL processes (Incident, Change, Problem Management). * Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and communication skills. Preferred: * Exposure to banking, financial services, or payment systems. * Familiarity with middleware/application servers (WebLogic, WebSphere, Tomcat). * Experience with monitoring tools (Splunk, AppDynamics, Nagios) and ticketing systems (ServiceNow, JIRA)
