Hire Desk Manager

A growing engineering solutions business is looking for a Hire Desk Manager to lead their team. This is a newly created leadership role where you’ll oversee the end-to-end delivery of projects — from order confirmation to installation — ensuring everything is completed right, on time and to the highest standard. You’ll manage a small but skilled team, working closely with Sales, Engineering, and Installation teams to deliver environmental equipment and service contracts on budget, within scope, and to customer satisfaction. Key Responsibilities * Lead and develop a team responsible for delivering customer orders and service contracts. * Oversee the full project lifecycle — scope, schedule, budget, and quality. * Coordinate procurement, deliveries, site attendances, and resource allocation. * Manage risks, resolve issues, and recover costs from variations or damages. * Maintain strong communication with stakeholders at every stage of delivery. * Promote repeat business through excellent customer service and aftersales support. What We’re Looking For * Proven experience in operations, project delivery, logistics, or fulfilment management (ideally in engineering, water treatment, pump hire, or environmental services). * Experience leading teams and coordinating cross-functional projects. * Familiarity with ERP/CRM systems. * Strong organisational skills, commercial awareness, and a problem-solving mindset. * Comfortable in a fast-paced SME environment where no two days are the same. * UK driving licence and full right to work in the UK.
