Job Title: Senior Financial Controller Location: Liverpool (Hybrid: 2 days in the office, 3 days remote) Salary: £90,000 - £110,000 per annum Contract Type: Temporary to Permanent Overview: A growing and dynamic professional services company in Liverpool is seeking a talented and technically proficient Senior Financial Controller to join their team on a temporary to permanent basis. This role offers a fantastic opportunity for an experienced finance professional with a strong audit background to make a significant impact on financial processes and controls within the business. About the Role: Initially, the Senior Financial Controller will focus on reviewing the company's existing financial reporting processes and controls, identifying areas for improvement, and implementing solutions to drive efficiency and accuracy across the finance function. This is a high-profile project role that will transition into a permanent position as the business continues to scale. Key Responsibilities: Financial Reporting & Process Improvement: Lead a comprehensive review of the company's financial reporting processes and internal controls. Identify opportunities for process improvements to enhance reporting efficiency, accuracy, and compliance. Implement best practices to improve financial data accuracy and timeliness. Ensure the financial reporting framework aligns with industry standards and regulatory requirements. Audit & Compliance: Conduct a detailed audit of current financial controls and reporting mechanisms. Address any control weaknesses identified during the audit process, working closely with senior leadership to implement corrective actions. Support and manage internal audits to ensure compliance with financial regulations. Team Leadership & Stakeholder Management: Lead a small team of finance professionals, providing guidance and support where needed. Collaborate closely with other departments to ensure smooth communication and alignment of financial goals across the business. Serve as the key point of contact for senior management on financial reporting issues and improvements. Financial Strategy & Reporting: Oversee the preparation of financial statements, ensuring they are accurate, timely, and compliant with relevant accounting standards. Lead the development of regular financial reports and forecasts for senior leadership and board members. Provide strategic financial insight and recommendations to improve overall financial performance. Systems & Tools Development: Evaluate existing financial software and tools, making recommendations for system improvements or replacements where necessary. Work with IT teams to integrate or implement new financial tools to streamline reporting processes. Experience: Proven experience in a senior financial controller or similar role within a professional services or fast-paced environment. Strong technical knowledge, ideally with an audit background. Experience in reviewing, designing, and improving financial processes and controls. Skills & Qualifications: ACA professional qualification (audit background is essential). Strong knowledge of UK GAAP and international financial reporting standards (IFRS).
