TravelNurseSource is working with Cynet Health to find a qualified CVICU RN in Omaha, Nebraska, 68124! Pay Information $2,304 per week About The Position Job Title: CVU RN Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Stepdown Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12H Nights Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: 2 years License: Required Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS Must-Have: 1 year of experience with this patient population Description: Department: CVU Certifications required include BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS. Candidates must not be employed full-time, part-time, or PRN with any facility associated with the health system. A driver's license is required for submission. RNs will need to pass a pass/fail exam during orientation. The exam will cover skills learned, and resources will be provided to ensure a passing score. A score of 90% is required to pass the exam. The unit has 18 beds with nurse-patient ratios of 1:4, and 1:3 for post-surgical patients within the first 24 hours. Common diagnoses include patients requiring intermediate care and downgraded CVICU patients. The unit heavily supports thoracic surgery, electrophysiology, catheterization laboratory services, and structural heart procedures. Common conditions treated include CVAs, CHF, A fib RVR, and other cardiac and vascular-related diagnoses. RNs are required to titrate drips for medications such as Amiodarone, Nitro, Nicardipine, Epi, and Cardizem. There is a charge nurse on each shift; however, it is rare for the charge nurse to take an assignment. Patient care techs are available with a ratio of 1:18. Hospitalists and intensivists are in-house 24/7. Respiratory therapy is available in the unit around the clock. RN duties include troubleshooting equipment such as BiPAP, CPAP, and nasal cannula. Remote telemetry technicians are present, and RNs must read and interpret telemetry strips. The manager schedules shifts, and self-scheduling or block scheduling is not permitted. Weekend requirements are every other weekend. Floating to all same-level and lower-acuity units is required. Scrub color is navy blue. Orientation will be tailored to the needs and experience of the RN. Requests for time off (RTO) should be submitted upfront, with a limit of seven days for a 13-week contract. Additional RTO will not be approved after submissions. The hospital can cancel up to four shifts during a 13-week assignment. Charting is done using the Epic system. A BSN is not required for this position. This is an acute care setting.
