Teacher of the Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing

The National Innovation Association (NIA) is seeking a dedicated and skilled Teacher of the Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing to join our education team. This role involves empowering deaf and hard-of-hearing students by facilitating their personal, social, and intellectual development through tailored teaching methods. As an educational institution committed to innovation, NIA integrates cutting-edge technologies and strategies to enhance learning experiences for all students. The ideal candidate will be passionate about special education and adept in using modern tools and resources to enrich the educational environment for deaf and hard-of-hearing pupils. Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) based on each student?s specific needs. Utilize various teaching tools and methods to enhance communication such as sign language, lip reading, and visual aids. Collaborate with other teachers, parents, and professionals to promote students' educational and personal development. Assess students? progress and adapt teaching materials and approaches to meet their educational and communication needs. Stay updated on new teaching strategies and technological advances in deaf education. Participate in professional development opportunities and contribute to team meetings to discuss student progress and strategies. Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL). Strong understanding of deaf culture and the psychological impacts of hearing loss. Ability to adapt teaching methods and materials for students with varying degrees of hearing loss. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, capable of engaging effectively with students, staff, and parents. Skilled in the use of technology and software that facilitate learning for deaf and hard-of-hearing individuals.
