These are targeted at further boosting CMCC’s global position in climate change research and producing science-based policy-relevant information. The PSEO Program directly addresses challenges that are crucial to understanding the challenges and solutions of socioeconomic systems in a changing climate environment and social context and building net zero carbon economies. We are looking for up to three Scientific Program Managers, capable of effectively liaising with different multi-disciplinary research communities, stakeholders and external partners. We seek highly organized and motivated individuals with a proven track record in project/program management and collaborative work within the context of scientific research. You will contribute to the development of the program's strategic vision, its co-design and implementation. To learn more about this opportunity and submit your application, please refer to the following: ROLE AND RESPONSABILITIES The Scientific Program Managers report to the Program Director, working for the smooth running of the Programs and related activities in close collaboration with the CMCC Research Institutes. Duties include: Strategic Program support: contributing to the development and implementation of research objectives, initiatives, and deliverables (strategic documents, presentations, policy briefs, etc.) aimed at improving climate information and supporting evidence-based policy- and decision-making. Science to policy translation: developing strategic communications and synthesis products, science-policy briefs,writing and contributing to scientific articles, presenting at scientific workshops and conferences, to enhance the outreach and impact of CMCC research. Policy analysis: assessing policies in the context of informing how the Programs can strengthen the CMCC policy-relevant research agenda and how latest scientific and technical information can best be used and communicated to inform policy development. Monitoring and evaluation: defining and tracking Program indicators and KPIs to assess progress, inform strategic adjustments, and report to funding bodies and stakeholders. Resource mobilization: mapping funding sources, developing fund raising strategies, including participating in the development of applied research proposals to advance Program objectives and research within CMCC. Internal coordination: liaising across CMCC Institutes and Programs to ensure alignment with CMCC’s Strategic Plan and foster interdisciplinary collaboration. Stakeholder engagement and representation: facilitating communication and collaboration among actors from academia, sectors, and diverse policymaking contexts; represent the Program at national and international meetings. Capacity building and outreach: supporting training and professional development for staff and early-career researchers; coordinating with CMCC’s Communication Office to deliver effective outreach and organize scientific and stakeholder events. Operations: coordinating day-to-day Program operations, monitoring timelines and deliverables, supportingthe Administration Manager who is responsible for preparing and tracking the Program budget. REQUIREMENTS PhD in Earth Sciences, Environmental Science, Environmental Policy and Management, Environmental Social Sciences, Economics or equivalent subjects is preferred. Minimum of 5 years of work experience in a research field. Scientific familiarity with climate change and risk, climate policy and solutions, sustainable development. Strong focus on achieving research objectives. Proven capability to plan, organize, and supervise research activities. Team player, proactive problem solver. Accuracy and good analytical skills. Knowledge of European, national, regional and philanthropic funding streams. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Excellent knowledge of the English language. DURATION, COMPENSATION & BENEFITS Please note that this opportunity will be issued both internally and externally. The individual will be preferentially based in the Venice or Milan CMCC offices. Contract and gross annual salary will be based on qualifications and working experience. Welfare package, for minimum 12 months contract. Flexible working time as per internal policies. Support during the immigration process, if needed. The position is available for an immediate start.
