No Offer Description A Postdoctoral Research Scientist position is available starting from 1st of January 2026 in the Ion channel Biophysics lab of Dr. Anna Moroni at University of Milan, Italy. The lab is located at the Department of Biosciences, with excellent research facilities including a Talos Arctica 200 kV cryoEM. Come and work with us on the structure of natural and engineered ion channels. We aim at identifying endogenous ligands, subtype-specific nanobodies, functional lipids and… much more. We are seeking a highly motivated post-doctoral fellow with proven experience in cryo-EM structural biology. You will be responsible for cryoEM studies, from protein purification and grid optimization to data analysis and model fitting. Additionally, the role involves mentoring graduate and undergraduate students. The ideal candidate should hold a PhD in Biochemistry and/or Structural Biology or related fields and have experience in electron density map reconstruction and model building. Experience in membrane protein purification would be an asset but is not essential. Skills in physico-chemical techniques (e.g. HPLC, mass spectrometry) will be also beneficial. We offer a three-year position with competitive stipend in an international research lab funded by an ERC Synergy grant. Milan is a booming city in Europe for biomedical research and a high standard of living. It is safe, culturally active and well connected by fast trains and low-cost flights.
