Junior Scrum Master

A vacancy exists for a Junior Scrum Master within the Kazang Micro Merchant Division , based in Cape Town on a hybrid work model. Role Summary The Junior Scrum Master is responsible for supporting and facilitating Agile delivery within a dedicated squad. This role operates independently with one squad while receiving guidance and coaching from the Head of Agile to ensure alignment with delivery standards and Agile best practices. This is a development-focused role with defined career progression. Key Responsibilities Facilitate core Scrum ceremonies (Sprint Planning, Daily Stand-ups, Reviews, Retrospectives, and Backlog Refinements) Conduct capacity planning and maintain sprint boards, dashboards, and Agile metrics (velocity tracker, burndown charts, sprint closure reports) Support backlog readiness and sprint execution in collaboration with the Product Manager Track sprint progress using Agile metrics Promote Agile mindset and continuous improvement within the squad Identify and escalate blockers, risks, or delivery challenges Maintain transparent communication and reporting to stakeholders Build and maintain a productive, collaborative, and psychologically safe team environment Requirements 01 year of experience in a Scrum Master or Agile delivery support role Understanding of Agile principles and the Scrum framework Ability to independently facilitate Scrum ceremonies Experience with Agile tools such as Jira and Confluence Strong interpersonal, facilitation, and communication skills Growth mindset and willingness to receive coaching and feedback Certified Scrum Master (CSM) certification is mandatory Technical Competencies Foundational understanding of Agile frameworks (e.g., Scrum, Kanban) Experience with delivery tracking tools (Jira, Confluence or equivalent) Ability to facilitate Scrum ceremonies and track sprint progress Understanding of backlog refinement and capacity planning Report preparation (e.g., Sprint Closure Reports) Basic knowledge of product development life cycle and continuous improvement Behavioural Competencies Strong communication and interpersonal skills High level of ownership, accountability, and follow-through Collaborative and team-oriented Growth mindset and adaptability Organised, detail-oriented, and delivery-focused Builds trust and psychological safety within teams
