Purpose of the Job: The Senior Digital Specialist: DevOps works within the Technology Digital Platforms and Services Application Programming Interface (API) Services team, which is responsible for the supervision of the API Development and Support which provides reliable, secure and scalable platforms and development services, to allow for increased scalability and geographic expansion. Key accountabilities Prepare and manage technical documentation and self-service resources on integrations Proactively monitor integration performance and troubleshoot, resolve, and report integration issues to impacted teams and stakeholders. Adhere to established development and integration processes, best practices, and standards Proactively support and share information and knowledge with peers in own and other departments and functions Provide agreed information, resources, professional advice and strategic contribution to relevant stakeholders on time, in budget, within quality standards Responsible and accountable for the monitoring and alerting of the entire platform Select appropriate professional frameworks, methods/ supporting technologies in line with agreed architecture and expected return on investments Manage multiple assets through the development, implementation, review of strategies and planning for area Provide 3rd line support and maintain software functionality Contribute to root cause analysis documentation for all Critical Priority Incidents Perform standby activities (defined as support of critical and high service impacting incidents) as scheduled DevOps: o Plan for, implement, and efficiently operate and maintain software solutions that will increase the development teams software delivery and operations performance of their products and services o Architect complex, multi-faceted applications across cloud platforms o Work closely with development and infrastructure teams to troubleshoot issues on the platforms services provided; understand requirements to enhance platform services in use through automation or tools; assist with optimising and simplifying deployment; and to measure the software delivery and operational performance o Create failure management processes and tools so outages can be handled without causing a loss of delivery. o Managing risk and release through configuration management, patch management, and version control o Integrate various tools in the DevOps toolchain to accelerate development teams velocity while maintaining high standards for quality and consistency Identify bugs and ensure these are effectively logged and communicated to the relevant development team Providing effort estimates on projects and prioritising own tasks effectively Ensure that functionality developed and deployed fulfils the business requirement, is delivered on time and does not negatively impact production operations Technical Design, create, test, and consume REST APIs with a focus on flexibility, security and performance Understanding of Telecommunications self-service, provisioning processes required to ensure the standardization of these processes. Ensuring compliance of POPI act on all relevant systems Thorough understanding, evaluation and implementation of Monitoring/alerting Understanding of Access and security Management Understanding of authentication, authorization or traffic management Responsible for designing, implementing API solutions and strategy and building APIs that ensure security, usability, and reliability Monitor the gateway performance and troubleshoot issues with application teams A detailed understanding of all phases of the software lifecycle, large-scale web applications, and Internet theory and practice Assist in managing all internal and 3rd party integration points into the BSS domain Assist in preparing all required reporting for Business Perform software releases using established automated procedures Responsible for the architecture and implementation of API Gateway Solutions, including API Gateway operation and maintenancebackups, monitoring, performance metrics, etc. Installing, configuring and deployment of Access Gateway, CA SiteMinder instrumentation, migration of code and data, integration with other systems for automation, data management and bug fixes Assists and supports all testing for all product releases Able to identify and resolve issues for Layer 7 API Gateway; additional troubleshooting and production support is required Provide routine administration including patching, deploying software, implementing changes, and server configuration Management and prioritization of required changes to ensure timely delivery of requirements Involvement in definition of effective release deployment strategies to support business requirements Ensure effective user acceptance testing (UAT) strategies Capacity management and maintenance of all concerned environments. Management of all related technology upgrades Technically supervise/manage a team of vendor specialists providing mentorship towards enhancing competencies Systems and Applications environment Setup, design, install multiple API-Gateway environments Familiarity with the OAuth Manager component of the CA API Gateway and all aspects of client registrations Setup, design and install multiple Kafka environments Perform data related benchmarking, performance analysis and tuning Create topics, setup redundancy cluster, deploy monitoring tools, alerts and applies good knowledge of best practices Engineering and deploying Kafka (using Confluent architecture) for data streams, securing configuration, network and AD integration Leading in the identification, isolation, resolution, and communication of problems multiple environments Attend meetings with vendor teams, and technical forums to stay abreast of methodology, changes and enhancements in the integration domain Business Support Provide business consultation in defining processes Participate in and assist in documenting solution development Documentation of application components, use cases, process flows and configuration requirements Review of quality assurance of testing and validation of requirements Provide support in delivery of related projects within the business support systems (BSS) domain Participate in emergencies or out of hours may be required occasionally to meet deadlines and targets Influence adherence to departmental and company policies and procedures by all vendors Ensure the testing of new products and services and migrate effectively to the live environment Provide timeous feedback to the relevant stakeholders on all related issues Ensure the testing of new products and services and migrate effectively to the live environment Provide input to the data clean-up process to ensure data integrity compliance with system requirements Identify System Improvement and Optimisation opportunities that will result in improvement of process performance Identify ways to fine tune policies, processes and systems in line with changing work practices Build effective relationships to ensure mutual benefit to all stakeholders Provide timeous feedback to the relevant stakeholders on all Customer related issues Minimum Qualification: IT degree, 3-year diploma or similar qualification Industry qualification (SQL, ITIL or similar) Leadership qualification / certification or minimum 3 years experience required ITIL certification a plus Experience: At least 10 years, of which 5 years experience in should be in Digital and Integration Prior experience with creating and maintaining design documentation including use cases and sequence diagrams Experience in DevOps (Bitbucket, MOCH, ISTANBUL, Swagger, CA Maven, Apickli, Cucumber, Jira)/ Confluent Kafka Administration functions/ API-Gateway/ CA API Administration functions 3 -
