Global Product Specialist - Renewable Power Generation Transformers

Description The Opportunity Hitachi Energy is seeking candidates to work as part of the Global Product Group (GPG) Power Transformers . The Global Product Specialist (GPS) will collaborate directly with the Global Product Manager (GPM) for Industrial & Specialty (I&S) Transformers and coordinate with worldwide R&D centers and local teams to translate customer requirements into product improvements and new developments. This role offers an opportunity for transformer engineering and R&D experts to contribute to demanding applications and develop innovative solutions for the evolving electrical grid. The position involves participating in technical meetings, developing international standards, and enhancing industry knowledge in power transformer technology. The GPS will be responsible for ensuring product competitiveness, value differentiation, and technological leadership, focusing on customer satisfaction and profitable growth in converter transformers and related applications. How you will make an impact Analyze market conditions by understanding international standards, customer requirements, and their impact on the portfolio. Conduct competitor analyses to identify technical gaps and opportunities for competitiveness while evaluating the portfolio. Manage technical specifications for Industrial and Specialty Power Transformers and support business case development for product innovations, technology transfer, and maintenance, with a focus on Renewable Power Generation Transformers and Variable Frequency Drive Transformers. Collect and share market data to validate product performance and translate customer needs into technical specifications following internal processes. Prepare technical communication materials, including white papers and support for product launches. Keep internal teams informed about market, competition, quality, configurations, and trends related to Industrial and Specialty transformers. Support data quality improvements, participate in customer meetings, and attend trade shows to identify customer needs and pain points. Develop training materials on Industrial and Specialty Transformers, especially Renewable Power Generation Transformers and Variable Frequency Drive Transformers, for internal and external use. Your background MSc or BSc in Engineering. Over 10 years of experience in transformer engineering and R&D, including electrical design and understanding of manufacturing processes and costs. Technical knowledge of transformer applications for power electronics, including variable speed/frequency drives, renewable energy converters, and industrial/marine applications. Experience working with international customers and standardization groups. Excellent communication and presentation skills. Fluent in English, with experience writing technical papers and reports.
