Job Description
Role Overview A high-level strategic opportunity exists for a senior mergers and acquisitions professional to drive corporate finance strategy and execution across both local and international markets. This role is ideal for a commercially astute leader with deep expertise in corporate transactions, deal structuring, and post-deal integration. You will play a central role in shaping and advancing inorganic growth strategies across a dynamic, multi-entity group environment. Key Responsibilities Strategic & Transaction Leadership Design and lead the execution of a proactive M&A strategy aligned with broader corporate growth objectives. Advise on and evaluate acquisition, joint venture, partnership, and divestiture opportunities. Work closely with the executive team and board on capital allocation and inorganic growth strategy. Deal Execution Manage the full M&A lifecycle: from target identification, strategic fit assessments, valuations, and due diligence, to negotiation, deal closure, and post-merger integration. Lead cross-functional integration teams to ensure maximum value delivery from transactions. Financial Modelling & Business Case Development Develop robust financial models, conduct sensitivity and scenario analysis, and evaluate synergies and ROI. Prepare compelling business cases and board-level documentation. Governance & Stakeholder Engagement Act as a primary liaison with investment banks, legal counsel, tax consultants, and other advisors. Ensure all transactions adhere to governance frameworks, BEE regulations, and regulatory requirements. Lead presentations to investment committees and the board. Market Intelligence & Strategic Insights Track M&A market trends, competitive activity, and valuation benchmarks. Build strategic intelligence networks to support proactive identification of deal flow opportunities. Team Development & Capability Building Lead and mentor the internal corporate finance/M&A team. Build institutional knowledge and repeatable processes for consistent deal execution. Requirements CA (SA), CFA, or relevant postgraduate degree in Finance, Investment, or Business. Minimum 15 years of experience in Corporate Finance or Investment Banking. At least 5 years leading complex M&A transactions (local and international). Experience advising or working within JSE-listed companies or large corporates is essential. Strong understanding of valuation, modelling, transaction structuring, and post-merger integration. Knowledge of BEE structuring, private equity, and cross-border deals will be advantageous. Exceptional presentation, negotiation, and board-level communication skills.
