Job Description

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS: Provide Exceptional Customer Service Provide exceptional customer service to all patrons, assisting with inquiries, explaining betting procedures, and resolving any issues or complaints that may arise. Provides relevant information to customers to guide betting decisions. Listens attentively to customers in order to correctly understand queries. Asks questions of clarity to correctly respond to customer queries. Escalates difficult queries to Branch Manager for resolution. Correctly refers customers to relevant divisions within the organisation to address customer queries. Process Cash Bets for Customers Collects, confirms and replenishes float to enable daily transacting. Processes all cash transactions correctly and efficiently on system. Issues bet slips and accurate change to customers for bets placed. Informs customers of incorrectly filled out forms and assists with corrections. Informs Branch Manager of payouts exceeding available cash. Ensures compliance to FICA when processing bets. Identify banned customers and tactfully notify Branch manager for necessary action. Identify self-exclusion customers and notify Branch manager for necessary action. Handle cash transactions, balance cash drawers, and maintain accurate records of betting transactions and revenue. Security and Compliance Ensure compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, and policies related to horse racing and betting. Cleaning Dusting, sweeping, mopping, and vacuuming floors, carpets, and other surfaces to remove dirt, debris, and stains. Ensure that all customer areas are cleaned and maintained. Sanitization: Disinfect and sanitize restrooms, kitchens, and other areas to prevent the spread of germs and maintain a hygienic environment. Waste Disposal: Properly collect and dispose of waste and trash in designated receptacles following established waste management guidelines. Restocking Supplies: Monitor and replenish cleaning supplies and restroom essentials like soap, toilet paper, and paper towels. Reporting Maintenance Issues: Inform Branch Manager of any maintenance or repair issues noticed during cleaning tasks. Adhering to Safety Guidelines: Follow safety protocols and use appropriate protective gear when handling chemicals or cleaning potentially hazardous areas. JOB REQUIREMENTS: Matric Grade 12 (NQF Level 4) with Mathematics as a subject. Diploma or Certificate (NQF Level 5) in business administration or related would be advantageous. Previous experience in a customer service, retail or hospitality role is advantageous. Computer Literacy is a pre-requisite. Industry Knowledge of the betting and gambling industry. Knowledge of basic mathematical skills to calculate odds and payouts accurately. Knowledge of industry legislation e.g. Licensing, NRGP, POPIA and FICA. Knowledge and understanding of the company policies and procedures. Knowledge of Code of Ethics and Human Resources Policies. Knowledge of cleaning methods, cleaning chemicals and cleaning equipment. Knowledge of Health and Safety procedures. Knowledge and understanding of adhering to safety protocols and guidelines to prevent accidents and injuries. KEY IMPORTANT CONTACTS: Key Relationships Internally : Area Managers, Branch Managers and Staff. Key Relationships Externally: Customers. Maintain a professional and respectful demeanour while performing cleaning tasks in various settings. Efficiently manage time and prioritise tasks to complete cleaning within specified time frames.
