Job Description

Position Overview: A leading mining company engaged in the development and operation of a large-scale chrome mining project is seeking a seasoned Mine Operations Manager to oversee and drive all aspects of mining operations. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in establishing and managing safe, efficient, and sustainable mining practices aligned with business, regulatory, and community objectives. Key Responsibilities: Lead the day-to-day mine operations to meet production targets and safety standards. Oversee drilling, blasting, loading, hauling, and processing activities, ensuring optimal use of resources. Drive implementation and adherence to all legal, safety, environmental, and operational procedures (including MHSA and DMR compliance). Collaborate with engineering, geology, HR, safety, and maintenance departments to ensure integrated site performance. Develop and monitor production plans, budgets, KPIs, and cost-control measures. Ensure effective workforce planning and skills development aligned with the companys Social and Labour Plan (SLP). Maintain high standards in environmental and community engagement practices. Report on operational performance to senior leadership and stakeholders. Foster a culture of continuous improvement and innovation in mining processes and technology. Requirements: Degree or National Diploma in Mining Engineering or related field. Mine Managers Certificate of Competency (Metalliferous Mines) is essential. A minimum of 10 years' experience in underground or opencast mining, with at least 5 years in a senior operations management role. Proven experience in chrome, PGM, or similar commodity environments will be advantageous. Strong understanding of South African mining legislation, DMR regulations, and health & safety practices. Excellent leadership, communication, and people management skills. Proficiency in mining software and operational reporting tools. Experience with stakeholder engagement, including community relations and BEE requirements, is preferred.
