Burner and Furnace Technician

Our cleint a leading South African manufacturer of high-temperature process equipment, with a global client base. Our company specializes in designing and manufacturing incinerators, product recovery furnaces, cremators, and flue gas filtration systems. We are seeking a skilled Burner and Furnace Technician to join our technical services team. This position is ideal for an experienced technician who is passionate about working with complex, high-temperature equipment and is comfortable traveling internationally. Job Summary The successful candidate will be responsible for commissioning, maintaining, and troubleshooting high-temperature process equipment both at our factory and at client sites around the world. This role requires a blend of hands-on technical expertise, strong problem-solving skills, and a commitment to providing excellent customer service. The position is based in Ballito, South Africa, and requires a willingness to travel internationally. Key Responsibilities Equipment Commissioning Perform comprehensive commissioning of incinerators, furnaces, cremators, and associated equipment at our factory before they are shipped. Conduct on-site commissioning at client locations, ensuring the equipment meets all operational specifications. Execute start-up procedures, safety checks, and performance testing. Train client operators on how to properly operate the equipment and perform basic maintenance. Maintenance and Service Conduct scheduled preventative maintenance on installed equipment at client sites. Troubleshoot and repair burner systems, control panels, and various furnace components. Replace worn or damaged parts, including refractory materials, burner components, and control system parts. Maintain detailed service records and reports for all site visits. Technical Support Provide remote and on-site technical assistance to clients experiencing operational issues. Diagnose equipment problems remotely via phone, email, or online monitoring, guiding clients through basic troubleshooting. Collaborate with our internal engineering team to resolve complex technical challenges. Assist in developing and improving maintenance schedules and procedures for various types of equipment. Qualifications and Requirements Essential Requirements A formal qualification as a Millwright or Electrician . A valid drivers license (Code B minimum). A willingness to travel internationally. A minimum of 3 years of experience working with industrial combustion equipment, burners, or other high-temperature processes. Technical Competencies A strong understanding of combustion principles and burner technology. Proficiency in reading and interpreting electrical and mechanical drawings. Experience with PLC systems and industrial control panels. Knowledge of gas and oil-fired burner systems. Familiarity with safety protocols for high-temperature equipment. Additional Skills Excellent problem-solving and analytical abilities. Strong communication skills for interacting with clients and writing reports. The ability to work independently and manage time effectively. Physical fitness to work in industrial environments and confined spaces. Basic computer skills for report writing and email communication. Preferred Qualifications Gas installation certification (SAQCC Gas). Previous experience specifically in equipment commissioning. A valid passport for international travel
