JOB TITLE: Software (POS) Application Engineer DEPARTMENT: Development REPORTING TO: Software Development Manager LOCATION : 29871 Vimercate (MB) What’s ‘In-Store’? – Role Overview We’re looking for a Software Application Engineer (POS) with full-stack expertise to help design, build, and maintain high-performance retail applications. This role focuses on the core logic and scalability of point-of-sale (POS) systems, ensuring seamless integration with data platforms, hardware, and third-party services via APIs and microservices. You’ll be hands-on across the development lifecycle — from analyzing requirements and writing clean, efficient code to debugging, testing, and maintaining systems across multiple platforms and devices. You’ll work closely with cross-functional teams to deliver robust, user-friendly solutions that perform reliably across browsers, operating systems, and hardware configurations. Technical Environment You’ll work with a range of tools and technologies including: Languages: Java, C, C++ Databases: PostgreSQL, MongoDB Operating Systems: Linux, Windows, Android Frameworks & Tools: Kafka, Swagger, Spring Key Responsibilities Analyze and translate user requirements into technical specifications Design, write, test, and maintain software and system components Enhance and adapt existing applications and drivers Integrate third-party software and hardware systems Ensure performance and visual quality across devices and platforms Document technical designs and operational procedures Work collaboratively with developers, designers, analysts, and business stakeholders Stay current with emerging technologies and development best practices Knowledge and experience you'll bring: 5 years of experience in software development, including C, C++, and Java Working background in enterprise or cloud-based environments Experience across the full software development lifecycle Solid understanding of scalable systems, APIs, and microservice architectures Fluent in English, with excellent communication skills for working in a global team EEO Toshiba is an equal opportunity/affirmative action employer that evaluates qualified applicants without regard to age, disability, gender identity, gender expression, gender reassignment, marriage or civil partnership, pregnancy and maternity, race, religion or belief, sex, sexual orientation, or any other protected characteristic.
